Engagement Story... (repost from '05)
I have never posted my engagement story on this site and felt inspired to do so tonight!
I love how it happened and just felt like sharing!
Mark and I met while we were in college. I was a Senior and he was a Junior. My friends lived in the same townhouse. I thought he was really cute, but I had just ended a long-term relationship and wanted to be single...
The first night Mark and I kissed, we both had a little too much to drink. We were in the suite area of the college townhouse and he told me to wait a minute. He ran over to the kitchen area, ripped a plastic "ring" off some measuring spoons and came back to me. He got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him! I told him he was crazy and said no, thanks!
We were dating for about 4 1/2 years when Mark told me he had a special day planned for us. We got in his car and he drove me back to the college where we met. We walked around the campus for awhile, reminiscing...we stopped at the top of a big hill in front of a mansion on campus. Mark turned to me and asked: "Do you remember what I asked you the first night we kissed?" and I said "Yes, you asked if I would marry you." Mark said "And do you remember what you said?" I said, "I remember! I said no!" Mark then got down on one knee and said "Well what would you say if I asked you now?" I said "Of course!!!" When I opened the ring box, there was the plastic ring Mark had given me that first night!!! I had held on to it all those years...He then took out the real ring, just what I wanted...it is perfect!
The special day didn't end there...Mark took me into Boston where we stayed at a beautiful hotel and went on a dinner cruise on the Harbor. My grandfather, who I was very close to (we share the same birthday and I was named after him), passed away before I met Mark. I was truly devastated by his death. I told Mark many stories about how my grandfather used to take me on his boat when I was little and how much I loved being on the water with him. While we were on the cruise, Mark told me that he had decided to take me out on the water so I could feel like my grandather was there!
Mark made it the perfect day for me! He is a wonderful man and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!

What a beautiful day it must have been for you! It sounds like your FI really loves and cares for you. I wish you a lifetime of happiness with him... he sounds like a good man!

awwww!! as I am reading your proposal,,my eyes were filling up with tears!!! great proposal...
Can I tell you mine??? here it goes..
His parents asked me to help plan his 30th surprise party..and here I am trying to keep this secret and not blow it..(cause I am the worst at keeping secrets)
So I am planning this huge party,,booked the lounge, booked the DJ, did the menu,sent out invitations..got favors!! EVERYTHING!!
NO ONE besides my parents and his knew that he was going to propose......so he acted surprise when we walked into the Lounge,,,and about an hour later he got on
the microphone and explained to everyone that he knew about this party all along and that RO planned her own surprise party!!!
Blah,blah,blah,,,got on his knee's and proprosed!!!!!!!
So then it turned into a Surprise "We are Engaged" Party!!!
evryone there was SHOCKED!! especailly me!!:
