Students HELP! FAFSA question, sort of wedding related
I keep getting an error message on my FAFSA since one question says "What is the student's marital status as ot today?" Ok as of today single. Then there is a question that asks the student's famly size for 2005-2006. Ok I am getting married this July so that is 2. The form doesn't let me enter this way since it says it can't be possible if today you are unmarried and have no dependents. I am going to have to try to talk to a real person tomorrow...anyone else been throught this (or a heads up if you are...)

From what I know< I believe you have to put the information as of now TODAY. You can always change that info the next time you file for your FAFSA. In my case I would not even mention that I will be getting married this year to them because you might have to show FH income also

Re: Students HELP! FAFSA question, sort of wedding related
Thanks... that is what I thought. It just doesn't make sense since they ask the question about 2005-2006 family but TODAY's marital status. It should technically ask the same on both parts either TODAY or 2005-2006. THanks!~

As a former Financial Aid counselor, I can tell you that if you changed it to married after your wedding - your husband's income with definitely be combined as yours and can reduce your package - DON"T change the form from single!

THANKS! Yep I talked to them and they said put it down as of today but to try to wait if I could depending on my school's deadlien (which is May 1 so it wouldn't matter). Yep my aid would definitely go do with DH's income!!!!
