Has anyone ever been published? Storyline included bumping so you can read the romantic story

I am thinking of writing a book and I am wondering how to go about getting it published.

Fiction or non-fiction?

If fiction, try short story contests in magazines. Once you get some stories published in magazines, you can approach agents and publishing houses. Good luck!

I am thinking more along the lines of a novel based upon my sister in law's life.
She has such an amazing life story and whenever I think about it I am just amazed to pieces.

For instance, her and her first husband dated for 7 years and then got married big beatiful long island wedding, bought a house in Nassau on the south shore...life was amazing until her husband started drinking..drinknig enough to where it was a problem and made worse by the fact that he was a diabetic. They tried marriage couseling but to no avail, a little over a year after they were married they were getting a divore.
One night she went out with some friends to a bar and met a bartender named Anthony, who brought life back to her and they started dating. After just a few short months they got married in a very small ceremony with just thier parents at the top of the WTC. on 9/10/01 they learned that Anthony had cancer so the next day he did not go into work to do inventory like planned..amazingly cancer saved his life because his bar was destroyed in the attacks on 9/11.
Lisa, Anthony and his elderly father all lived together in NJ while Anthony battled the illness. Unfortunatly, Anthony passed in October 2002.
Lisa was amazingly strong through the whole ordeal, she brought such hope and strength to everyone and if it were not for her, I am not sure if Anthony's father would have been able to get through it.
Fast forward to October 2004...Lisa is getting married for the third time, this tiime to Anthony's oncologist, Dr. Greg. she is in a beautiful dress, I am so excited to be there to witness this marriage. She gets ready to walk down the isle she slips her one arm under her father's and then turns and slips her other arm under Anthony's father. How amazing it was to see her walking down the isle with both of them...words can not describe.
long story short....Lisa and Dr. Greg live happily ever after in their new home...which has a basement apartment for a man they both call Dad, a man who lost his only son, Anthony to cancer.

That's sweet, and it seems like it would make a great magazine article. I think Glamour often has contests to have short stories published.

It is a great story, isn't it. I love telling it to people and the reaction we often get is that we should make it into a lifetime movie or something.

Seriously, that is truly one of those amazing stories that you wouldn't believe was real unless someone told you it was!

Definitely look into trying to publish it somewhere or somehow - what an amazing lady and a beautiful story
