at 22 weeks Im thinking of switching drs- am I nuts?
I go to a dr that works with another dr and 2 midwives. I have to say that I dont feel entirely comfortable with my doctor that I usually see. I have on occasion seen the Midwife and I love her as does my husband. We both like her manner. My doctor on the other hand is very cold and she always scares me- She has made me feel badly about not taking the afp test and last week she told me that I my cervix looked short and told me I could be at risk for preterm labor when in fact it was perfect legnth all along ( after re mesuring 2 weeks later). The thing I am worried about is if I do switch to the midwife and things dont work out naturally and I have to have a c section- would I wind up having to have The dr anyway? That would be akward. I just dont know what to do at this stage of the game...

Re: at 22 weeks Im thinking of switching drs- am I nuts?
My only advice is that you have to do what you are comfortable with. If I was in your position, I would have to switch. The Dr's bedside manner obviously leaves little to be desired, and at a point where you are your most "vulnerable" you are going to want someone who is going to make you feel at ease. In your case its not too late to switch, its never too late. Good Luck!

Re: at 22 weeks Im thinking of switching drs- am I nuts?
I personally don't like doctors. In my entire life I have had 2 doctors I have felt comfortable with so I opted for a midwife from the get go. I asked my midwife how it works if for some reason my pregnancy becomes high risk or I need a c-section during birth. She said that they will always be my main provider. If I become high risk they consult with the doctors they practice with but still provide my care and in the event that a doctor is needed during birth they stay with me the entire time the doctor will only perform the procedure the midwife can't. Maybe ask how it works in your practice. I highly recommend switching to the one you feel comfortable with. That is so important in general and even more important when you are pregnant.

If I was in your situation I would switch. There is no reason you should stay with someone who you do not feel comfortable with. You still have a good 18-20 weeks to go so I wouldnt think its too late to switch. It doesn't seem like this doctor has the best way of presenting information to you and really you want to be with someone who is more caring. Also there is no guarantee that you'll need a c-section, the doctor may not need to be called in at all.

ok so I switched appointments to the midwife- The office seemed fine with it and I didnt go into too much detail- I just need to let the receptionist know that when I go in next time. I hope the dr doesnt get offended but out personalities just did not mesh ( anyway who cares right? Its my baby )
