Re: My best friend wants
I don't know if I would say mean...but think of it this way...it's kind of flattering that she wants to use the same dress. She's likes your taste and besides her wedding is after yours. IMO, she's your best friend and if you say no, you might regret it later and see it's really not a big deal anyway. But if it really bugs you I guess you can just tell her.

Re: My best friend wants
I think it would depend upon the following: Will it be the same color and length? Also, will a lot of the same people attend her wedding as yours? If so, then I would not be happy either. At least yours will be first.
If not, could you ask if she wanted another dress by the same designer? Will the same girls be in your parties? Could they wear the same dress - if so, it might be cost effective.

Re: My best friend wants
My MOH (I'll be her Matron of honor) and I like the same dresses. I get married in March and her in May. Luckily we like different colors, but if we ended up with the same (which I doubt would happen) it wouldnt bother me.
But I don't think you're mean if you tell her it would bother you. If she really wants the same dress, maybe she could get different color shoes/shawl/wraps to make them look different?

Re: My best friend wants
I could see where you might be mad, but yes your wedding is taking place before hers, therefore you should feel honored that she wants to use the same dresses. I wouldnt worry to much about it.

Re: My best friend wants
Your feelings are your feelings and they are valid no matter what. However, IMO, if you were engaged and planned your wedding before your friend did then I wouldnt be bothered by her choosing the same dress. It would be your friend who would be copying YOU! Maybe she will pick another color so it will not be as obvious to anyone who attends both fucntions.

Re: My best friend wants
Thanks You all make perfect sense...it is after mine and it will probably be a different color. I was being a
So, I guess its not really a big deal. I would feel bad for one of my friends who would have to buy 2 of the same dresses...but that isn't my doing right? Thanks ladies

Re: My best friend wants
i don't think its too big a deal.... i would be flattered actually. and really when you think about it, for the most part, you probably won't have the same "crowd" at both of your weddings so it'll really only be a few people who notice, and i doubt they'll think too much about it. my best friend " lucy" was in her cousins wedding last july and was in love with the BMs dress her cousin picked. lucy got engaged this fall and shes getting married in august and the girls in her wedding are wearing the same dresses her cousin's BMs did. this includes the cousin who picked the dresses first. lucys cousin was flattered that she picked the same dresses- in fact, the cousin didn't even need to buy the dress- shes "borrowing" the dress from the girl who was her maid of honor last summer! so it'll all work out... with all the other wedding stuff you have to worry about, i don't think this is all that big a deal.

Re: My best friend wants
Not mean, if thats how you feel. You are entitled to your feelings. However, I do feel like you should be flattered. - "immitation is a form of flatery". Plus, her wedding is after yours, so its not like anyone would think you are the one copying her.

Re: My best friend wants
I don't think you're being mean. However, if you are going to really be bothered by it, then you should talk to her about it. I agree that it is definitely a compliment.
