Addressing Invites when a Married Couple Doesn't Share the same last name????
I'm soooo confused on this one....I have a couple of married friends who don't share the same last name. So on the outer envelope, do you right Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Jane Smith or do you just write Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and save the clarity for the inner envelope???
All thoughts greatly appreciated!
TIA

Mrs. Jones and Mr. White would be the correct way.

If the woman's last name is her maiden name she does not use Mrs., but Ms....so for example it would be Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith....

Re: Addressing Invites when a Married Couple Doesn't Share the same last name????
I'm so glad someone asked this question because we just had this problem this weekend when we were setting up our envelopes for printing. Are we sure that the woman using her maiden name gets a Ms.? Because I want to be correct, but I don't want to offend anyone whose married by calling them a Ms. unless it's proper.

well, Ms. can be for ANYONE.
I go by Ms. now, and i'm a "miss", my MOM, who's married goes by Ms. also. (her reasoning is that Mr. dosen't imply if you're married or not, why should women half to)... that's not why I do it now, I just think it's easier and nicer than "Miss"... and I work at a school and have to write "Ms. XXX" a lot, so don't use Miss.. but when i'm married, i'm STILL going to use Ms. I've never really been a fan of Mrs. ?? I know i'm wierd?!?!

Yes, Ms. can be used by anyone, married or not.
My parents are listed on my wedding invitation and Mr. and Ms. Paul and Patricia XXXXX. My mom is very happily married for 30+ years but never uses Mrs.
