NWR- Anyone who's been on a cruise... or to the Carribean...

WHAT do i pack?!?!?!



i keep feeling like im forgetting something
i've got
-all my toiletries
- dramamine (in case i find out i get sea sick.. jsut to be safe)
-bathing suit (havent bought yet )

flip flops
clothes



im totally forgetting stuff! ( oh yeah, none of this is actually IN the suitcase yet,,, just written on a piece of paper )

make sure you bring something nice to wear. They always have a dress up night

Im packing my dress from the RD.. i LOVE it.

is it bad that i have like 8 pairs of shoes/ flip flops that im bringing? i cant decide

im pretty good so far,,, only 2 pairs of flip flops (one flat, one platform) lol my other wedge type of sandle shoes (yeah, i have no idea how to describe things), sneakers, black pumps and black open toed shoes (so i may drop the pumps, not sure yet) lol

oh yeah,,, i havent even started on the clothes yet. Ill have like 4 full size suitcases filled, and leave FH with just a duffle bag

its going to Nassau (the bahamas and great stirrup cay).. oh and stops in Miami and port canaveral too

Thank you!! we heard great thing about them, and we upgraded to a suite with butler service, so im all excited about that too!!

Sorry to interrupt...lol. But I have been to NAssau. It is nice if you can get over to Paradise Island and check out Atlantis. BEWARE of the straw market. The deals are great but the people are evil They try to get you to buy anything and will pull you to their stand.

Don't forget your toiletries. We bought an over the door shoe rack to put them in because there is not a lot of counter space and things could fall off easily. Also your birth certificate or passport because they do a customs check in the Bahamas

You don't need that much clothing. I thought I packed sparingly and most of the time you walk around in your bathsuit and cover up. Thats my advice for next time around on a cruise.

Don't forget to pack different meds, like tylenol, advil, all types of stomach medicine etc.

Also, if you get sea sick don't take the dramine. I get every type of motion sickness possible. My first cruise (it was even a Norwegian) I was miserable b/c I had the patch from my Dr. and it didn't work, it was actually making it worse. So I went to the front desk, and the guy there told me to take the patch off and to use the pills he gave me. They have the same pills on all the cruise lines and work better (for sea sickness) than anything I've tried. I wish I had went to him sooner b/c I spent the first day and a 1/2 miserable. After I started taking those pills I felt like a new person!

Have fun! Nassau is a blast, and I loved the Straw market! I went with just girl friends and felt totally safe. There is this little place upstairs in the one market that actually has an upstairs that makes the BEST frozen drinks.

My DF proposed to me on "formal night" on the Norwegian Dawn. (in May '04)

I would bring a light jacket - it gets slightly windy on board

In no order of priority I would bring the following
2 bathing suits
underwear
bras
sexy lingerie
pjs
shorts (3)
blue jeans (1)
slacks (1)
chinos (1)
casual dresses (2-3)
cardigan for over the dresses - cool at night
enough t-shirts for every day
a sweater
an umbrella or rain gear
sneakers
gym clothing (yoga pants - double as a pool cover)
flip flops
sandals
dress shoes
formal dress

accessories
pocketbook
wristlet (for when you don't want to bring a bag)
a beach bag to put stuff in when shopping or for a day on the beach

As for the straw market - I almost had my e-ring stolen by one of the vendors as I was giving her my cash to pay she attempted to slip my ring off of my finger. Thankfully it was slightly tight and I realized what was happening. Honestly, I would leave valuable jewlery at home and just wear a simple wedding band.

HEY

I wouldn't take Dramamine because that makes you tired, INSTEAD Take Bonine...does the same thing but doesn't make you sleepy or groggy

I dont know if someone said it, but I found it necessary to have water shoes..kind of dorky yes, but when you are in areas with coral and/or sting rays...it does help... Or if you have to climb...like dunn's river falls or that waterfall in dominica.

I'm going on my 15th cruise in April. There is no vacation in the world like them. Last time I took a suitcase just for shoes....but that's because I like to dress up. I'm in jeans most of the time so this is a good excuse. Don't skimp on the shoes!

This is how I usually plan

Day 1 travel outfit usually worn all day and to dinner

Day 2, 3, 4 etc. Outfit or beach wear what ever your doing for the day. Sometimes you have both in one day or just beach or outfit.

Day 2, 3, 4 etc. Outfit for dinner (also there is usually one Captains dinner which is formal. Your cruise line should be able to tell you which night it is)


Last day travel outfit.

Also on some cruise lines you might have to put your packed suitcases out in the hall late on the last night. so it is always good to take one of those foldable suitcases that you can put your PJ" (ahem ) and AM toiletries
in and throw in your suitcase when you get them back. Also the suitcase can be used for extra "must have" buys.
