Is it ok that I'm a little annoyed?

My mom called me Sunday and told me, just in the course of conversation, that my aunt (a very close aunt) got her outfit for the wedding. She's wearing a cream colored pantsuit.

Now, I KNOW that there is nothing I can do about this. However, my mother yelled at me for being annoyed, telling me it's none of my business what the guests wear. Would it bother you that a) she's wearing pants and b) it's cream when I'm in ivory??

Yes the cream thing would definitly bother me. Pants not as much.. its probably a really dressy pants suit and shes probably more comfortable wearing pants.

it's DEF okay that you're annoyed, you're entitled to your own opinion, BUT

she at least is wearing a pantsuit!!! thank goodness it's not a dress! and second of all, you're going to be the center of the attention, don't worry about what anyone else is wearing...they're only going to care about what YOU have on!

I wouldn't worry about it. I was at a wedding and noticed some woman wearing a cream outfit. It didn't even phase me until later on in the evening...I was like...wait..she's wearing cream pants to a wedding? But then I gave it no further thought....I was too busy watching the bride and groom having fun and partying on the dance floor....

i totally understand why you'd feel that way. but don't let it bother you!! remember, there are some REALLY pretty and formal pants suits out there nowadays, wearing pants don't necessarily mean that it's not formal or nice enough!!

and regarding the ivory/cream colors. just remember, NO ONE - i mean NO ONE, no matter what they wear, or how they look can take the spotlight away from you!!!! you are a beautiful girl (i saw from your avatar) and you're going to be a GORGEOUS bride!!!!

i have NEVER EVER seen a guest/relative or anyone for that matter took the spotlight from the bride!!!!!

I know that it seems like she is wrong for chosing cream but really, you probably won't be standing next to her too much anyway during the wedding so, it'll be alright with all those other people around. You'll be amazed at what people will wear to your wedding, some people may not even wear a tie! (Oh wait, maybe thats just my family)

I would be a little annoyed that she picked a cream colored outfit, but The pants suit would not bother me.

It is more than just a little ok that you are annoyed... if she is very close is there anyway you can talk to her? Maybe she didnt cut the tags off yet?

It would bother me too.. I mean, that is not appropriate.. I can see somethign with cream in it- but all cream- head to toe.. I mean, obviously- this will not be competing with you- and if it was a younger girl it is a different story.. but nontheless.. it does hit somewhere on the annoying scale.

i would be ticked that your aunt is wearing a "white" to a wedding....as that is always a etiquette no-no

but the pants i could care less...i hope my mom wears a pantsuit since it will be comfy for her

I would be annoyed too. I remember a bride on here last year who's Mom wore white/off white dress. I would have been so pissed. But in the big scheme of things no one will even notice. All eyes will be on you and your DH!

if it makes you feel any better, my friend that got married two years ago wasn't annoyed about the people in the light colors, but her brother in-laws girlfriend was wearing a VERY sexy VERY red dress...

Sorry - But I have to agree w/ your mom (well, not for YELLING at you!) But you really hve no control over what your guests wear. Would I wear cream or Ivory ? No.........but many older women do. - My cousin's Godmother wore a cream colored dress to her wedding........WHO NOTICED ? No one !! - YOU are the bride !! No one is going to give anyone ele's outfit a second look !!

i agree that any shade of white should nto be worn to a wedding unless there is another color present as well. maybe it's a really fancy pants suit?? maybe you are just picturing a basic suit, and maybe it is much fancier than that.

It wouldn't bother me either way I'd rather my family and guests be comfy in a pants suit and in a color that compliments them then to wear something that they look aweful in I tried talking my mom into a dress last night that was cream/ivory, but it ended up looking bad on her. You have enough to think and worry about - don't worry about what your guests will wear

my mil got a ligh colored dress....its like a light caramel (as per my fh). I am not even worried about the color matching mine (Im wearing white) but I think it is too bland a color for her. I am a little upset that she didnt ask my opinion...even though I did voice when she tried on another dress that I would like to see ehr in color so it will look nice in the pics
