Why do weddings bring out the worst in people?

Given my recent BM/shower stress, I 'm beginning to see that weddings sometimes bring out the worst in people. FH and I were happily planning for over a year, but the moment that other people got involved, it all started to go bad. Too many opinions, too much conflict. It probably would have been better if I planned my own shower. Now we are dealing with rehearsal dinner stress. Fh's parents want to limit the number of people and the price they will pay per plate. We might as wel have it a McDonalds. Will it ever end? Maybe we should just run off and get married.

Anyone experiencing the same thing?

I agree, its up to you and your FH now to see the best in one another because from now on its the two of you against everyone Like a team!

Here Here!! I guess thats when things go haywire, when others get involved.. I try to remind myself, its about the two of us and don't worry about anyone else.. who is going to be around the day after the wedding and the rest of your life?? Of course there will be pictures, but you know what, when It comes down to it, this is our time to shine, they cannot live through us because they didn't get what they wanted!!! It will be hard but we all can get through it!!

Just try and focus on you and your FH and why you started this whole process to begin with-dont let others ruin it for you.

HELLO LISA! omg i am TOTALLY going through same thing...well at least as far as the RD goes. But, I will tell you, the bad feelings have passed. You just have to learn to accept that's how they are they just won't understand.

Ray's mom is only paying 500 so we're going to pay the remainder but cancel the farewell breakfast. It's important to me to have a nice RD the way we want it, so I'm so I'm not comprimising!

Yup - issues here too Everyone has their idea of what OUR day should be and who should be there. We've kept our foot to the floor and doing what we want with very little interference, but it's tough and we don't want to upset anyone.

I think part of the problem is weddings these days are such big productions that people lose sight of the why they are celebrating...it is about the two of you making a committment... all the other stuff - catering halls, gowns, ect.- are just details...hopefully all the stuff that is driving you crazy you can laugh at down the road.

Weddings definitely bring out the worst in SOME people...I have 2 very important people in my life who really want nothing to do with my wedding...Its soooo hard because I love them so much and I was their for one of their weddings and cared so much and was so involved...Now, its like these 2 people can't be happy for me...It makes me so sad but there is nothing I can do...I just have to be happy for myself and enjoy the planning!
