looking for a church for wedding ceremony & reception

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of a church we can rent to have our wedding ceremony in Long Island(w/i 30 miles from Queens). My church is currently under construction right now. We have a pastor, singers, and musicians. So we basically need a nice church for about 200 people. Also, I am planning to have a reception at the chruch as well.
Please advise me~
Thanks...

Does it matter what denomination the church is?

If denomination isnt an issue.. you may want to look into a United Methodist church.. Most of them offer their building without their services for a fee and also offer a fairly resonable sexton... (someone to open the church and clean and lock up at the end)

Re: looking for a church for wedding ceremony & reception

I went to a wedding in Melville that had the reception in the church hall. I don't know the name of the church (it wasn't catholic), but it was on or near Old Country Road, just west of 110.

The church itself was pretty and old.

If you don't mind Manhattan you should look into Riverside Church. It is beautiful and they allow receptions as well.

Re: looking for a church for wedding ceremony & reception

I have been doing this research for the past month or so. There is a church in Garden City called Presbyterian Church. Their website is presbyterianchurchgc.org. I went to look at the church yesterday and really was not impressed but of course everyone has their own taste. You can call Diane at 516-354-1848 to set up an appointment to go and look at it.

Good Luck!

Re: looking for a church for wedding ceremony & reception

Yes, the church one of the posters referred to is the Sweet Hollow Presbyterian Church, on Old Country Road just west of Rt. 110. My church is Old First Presbyterian Church which is in Huntington Village. The sanctuary can DEFINITELY hold 200, but I'm not sure the Parish Hall would be able to do that many--however, if you cut down the guest list, there is even a stage for entertainment. AND the Parish hall can be tastefully decorated (in my opinion). If you need further info, FM me.
