quit my job
Actually gave two weeks notice yesterday after an unpleasant conversation with the office manager (the Ice Queen)
Can you believe they actually said I have to much motivation/iniative and that I was always trying to be helpful but they'd rather I didn't do anything but answer the phone???
Well I didn't get my BA and I'm not working on my MA to sit and just answer phones. I know some people think I'm nuts for not wanting to just do that as this isn't my career just a job until I have my teaching certification but I can't do that.
So if anyone knows of openings PLEASE share :)
When I went to leave on lunch today they handed me my two weeks pay and insurance information and told me I could leave as of now, they said it as if I'd be upset! I am thrilled to be out of there, I dealt with the Witch for 6 months but now I am in a better situation to take the time and find something I want to do and not be disrespected on a daily basis anymore.

Re: quit my job
Wow, good for you! I never thought that having too much motivation and being too helpful would ever be a problem for a boss! You need to go somewhere where you're appreciated! I don't know any openings, but best of luck to you! Try monster.com or careerbuilder.com. They've always worked for me!

Re: quit my job
I agree...why don't you sub or get a teaching assistant position? My district pays TAs terribly but it is something to put on a resume! Other districts pay well!

Re: quit my job
Well then you get to hang out at home like me for a while! Tuesday was my last day and I'm on the job hunt now. I think that Career Builder is pretty ok and someone's suggestion to substitute teach is a good odea. It pays pretty decently, I'm actually going to put myself on th list too. Good luck!

Re: quit my job
I am going to interview with AHRC of Suffolk County. They work with develpmentally disabled individuals from birth to 21 years old. I would love to sub but I need a steady check to save for the wedding and pay my bills. I will put myself on a list and see what happens but I really do need the $$$$>
Also, because I am going to initial certification I believe I can only work 30 days by NEw York State Law. So while if I get called while I'm on the hunt that would be great but I am not going to be able to only work 30 days from now to certification.
Has that 30 day rule changed? Anyone have more info??
