Late August/Early September Brides...
Where are you going on your honeymoon? I ask because FH and I are planning a vacation right before classes start for me and I would love to go to the Caribbean or Mexico, but am afraid that hurricane season will ruin it.
So I want to know where you are all going so I can get some ideas.

How did that work for you? Last hear was horrible when it came to hurricanes. Were you affected at all? We would really like to do a cruise.

There are no hurricans in Aruba and last year with all those hurricans only the tip of Aruba got hit but with very little damage.

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
We're doing Hawaii but a coworker of mine did a cruise to the different islands of Hawaii (they only had a week they could spend there) & friend's of my parent's did a cruise in the Carribean. The nice thing about the Carribean cruise was that there was bad weather at two of the stops so they were diverted to islands with nicer weather. They used Royal Carribean & loved it!

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
We are going to St. Lucia Aug 21st. Sandals offers insurance for anything (such as hurricanes) that could interrupt your vacation. We also got additional insurance through our travel agent (a fabulous woman) to cover anything else that could happen to cause us not to go on our honeymoon.
If you want any info on it or need a great travel agent fm me:)

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
We're going to Mexico.....
Personally, I think its all chance. This will be our 3rd year in a row going away in September, one year Puerto Rico, last year Mexico and this year will be Mexico again and so far we pretty much lucked out with the weather.
Yes it is hurricane season, but like anything else its all taking a chance. You can't predict anything like that.......its either going to be beautiful or it will rain the entire time, or it will do both.....I would just book the trip and Just Do It and not worry b/c what will be will be!!!
And as long as there is alcohol....whats to worry? LOL--J/K

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
We were thinking about hurricanes too. We've never been to europe, so probably a mediterrean cruise. Don't go to Mexico, they get hurricanes too. I was there twice and both times there was a hurricane. Once in Aug and once in Sept

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
Areas of Mexico like Rivera Maya and Cancun and still be hit with hurricanes around that time, but if you go to the west side like Cabo or Puerto Vallart there won't be any hurricanes. It is however the rainy season, but when it rains it usually rains in the late afternoon for a short period of time. And it's so hot that you welcome the rain!

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
Me and FH wanted to go to Carribbean and were also worried about hurrican season...we went to a travel agent and ending up booking Costa Rica (outside of the hurricane zone) Aruba is also outside of the hurricane zone...do some research online or even call up a travel agent and ask some questions you could also post on travel website

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
I know I'm later in Sept, but it's still the same "season". I'm going to Hawaii. The Caribbean is tricky that time of year. FI & I went to Bermuda in Sept this past year & it was GORGEOUS. It's really hit or miss unfortunately in the Caribbean. I would seek out alternative destinations just in case you keep getting told not to go to the Caribbean.

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
I'm going on a Southern Caribbean Cruise in early September. I was also worried about hurrican season but my friend who went on a Caribbean Cruise in late August of last year said she had a wonderful time and the weather was beautiful 90% of the time.

Re: Late August/Early September Brides...
Like others have said, you are taking a hurricane risk in the Caribbean at that time of year. The weather could be great, but it could also be horrendous. If you're really tied to the Caribbean, then look at the dry, desert-y islands that tend to be out of the storm belt (like Aruba). Otherwise, Hawaii is a great tropical choice tha time of year.
