I changed my wedding date...
on my Fortunoff registry. I changed it to say May 30, 2005.
Reason: We tried to exchange some brand new, unused, still in the packaging pieces from our bath set that are still current and on display at Fortunoff. I got them as shower gifts, but only now am I finally getting to the bottom of the gift pile. The girl at Fortunoff gave me such grief because I was passed the 90 days from my wedding date, which is the return period. I even argued that was completely ridiculous because the items were clearly unused, and on a display case right next to the cashier desk.
So, I went online and changed the date on my registry. We went back to the store and said that we received those items as engagement party gifts and viola, they took them back without a hassle.
Unbelievable!

NO! Can you believe, I said that first and she wouldn't take it back! It actually had the FORTUNOFF sticker on it, not just the manufacturer's barcode. So, then I said, well it was a registry gift. She replied by saying, "OH, you are WAAAAAAAY passsed the 90 return period"
So, I left and that's when I changed the date on the registry. There are maybe 2 other unused items that I might want to return (that are still CURRENT items).
Meanwhile, the guy on the next line over was returning china. And, that saleslady on that line was like, "oh, I have to look it up because we discontinued this in 2002, so we'll have to give you store credit, is that okay, Sir?"
I guess I just got on the wrong line...

Tat was very smart.. it used to be no time limit when i got married 4 years ago and they gave cash no matter the amount...So you beat the system....

I just went last week to return a few un opened items I changed my mind with. I went to hte White Plains store and they said the same thing that it was way past the 90 days so I gave a story that the items were in storage and we just moved into a house blah blah and after speaking to the manager the girl did it no problem.
But I have to say you are crafty and I am going to use your idea if I have any more returns
