Gone OMG someone is a little greedy?!?!?!


I am going to a shower for a "family friend" and I just went to look at her registry and I cant believe how expensive the things she registered for are!! and theres SO much of it. Its honestly the longist registry I have ever seen. I mean she did put a few "affordable" things on there but just the registry in general made me go

No, I haven't, but so far the registries have been reasonable. Expensive is relative to different people.

Thats true.. Its just the smallist things are $100 and up ( I mean little as in 1 wine decantor for that price) and everything else $350 and up

no, but i have looked at a registry and thought "What the heck were you thinking!"

My sister registered for the strangest stuff - she ended up returning half of it. Lesson - don't do your registry in a hurry!

i saw a pillow on a registry for $90. i though that must be one heck of a pillow...

I hope people don't think I'm one of those people. I'm trying not to be, I do have a bunch of things that are truly affordable, but I do have things that some people may think are frivolous. The expensive things, such as engraved sterling silver flatware, are things that I really want and would buy for myself after the wedding. I do have a ton of other stuff that is affordable so I guess it's not that bad. I know what you mean, though, I have thought that about some of my friend's registries.

I haven't had that happen, but what I DO find annoying is that there is someone I know whose shower I am going to and there's like NOTHING on her registry. It just seems like they're asking for money by NOT having a registry. And if you knew this girl, you'd know this is exactly her motive. THAT annoys me. I, of course, will be buying her something, even if it's useless or they have it already because what am I supposed to do, go to the shower with money? No way.

one option is to team up w/ some people and pool your money to purchase an expensive item..

when I registered I consciously looked for things in the $40 -$70 range....seriously, what am I going to do w/ $125 digital toaster???

I worry about seeming greedy LOL

My FH family is L-O-A-D-E-D
My family is just making ends meet

So I figure Ill put a little bit of everything and they get what they get - either way.. it doesnt matter

BTW - A registry is mainly for the bridal shower right? Because I am praying for just $$ at the reception

YES!!! a friend of mine got married last year, and every single item was outrageously expensive. i had the hardest time choosing a present, since i didn't want to show up to her shower with just a spoon

If you think her items are too expensive, why don't you just get her a gift card or something that's not on her registry?

We looked at DH's ex's registry a while back, because she was a spoiled brat and we wanted to see how far she'd go. It was highly entertaining. She definately lived up to what I've heard about her.

uh oh they may say that about mine I put some pricey things on there, but it was a wish list but they dont know that, oh well.

In speaking to my friends and FSIL, you need to put a range of items priced from cheap to expensive and just see what happens! I'm just curious as to how many items to put on our registry?!

How many items did you girls put on your's? FH and I are going this week to do our's

Eh I have a lot on my registry cause me and FH dont live together, so we need EVERYTHING. I was upset about putting stuff on there, but u know what, im not putting a gun to anybodys head to buy it...so if they do they do if they dont they dont. I was very cautious about finding the best/cheapest buy for a good product. But honestly wouldnt consider myself greedy regardless.

Well, I did to show my mom that I wasn't being greedy.

My mom thinks everything on my registry is ridiculous, but I kind of went for everything in the middle.

My Moh's brother and wife had everything designer... I was like 'see mom, I'm reasonable compared to them!'

I havent so far...
Mine is soo cheap..I have tons of stuff $30 and under...and the most expensive stuff ( all around $100) wasnt purchased
heres hoping for gift cards...lol

Well, sort of--one of my cousins was "forced" to register at Tiffanys by her fmil (her mil thought that the family friends would ONLY shop there) and none of the "affordable" Tiffany items were on there. After the wedding we checked, and almost NOTHING had been purchased off that registry. Thank goodness my cousin's mother INSISTED she registered for other items, more reasonably priced at other stores!

I'm sure if there's nothing on her registry, there is a reason... She is getting married and she most likely can use the money to help out...

We all know that the best gifts are money, then u can use it to buy what you need! for example.. Say you need to buy the knife set to cut the cake and no one brought it, u can use the money towards that....
