Those Looking for a Secular Reading for the Ceremony
FH and I finally picked out our readings for the ceremony (interfaith - Jewish/Catholic with an interfaith minister). Anyway, we picked the standard Corinthians (Love is patient, love is kind...) but also a great passage from Corelli's Mandolin by Louise De Bernieres. I put the text below for anyone who may be looking for a secular reading.
"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion... That is just being "in love," which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident."

I love that passage from Captain Correlli. We are using for our ceremony too.

Re: Those Looking for a Secular Reading for the Ceremony
That sounds great. I remember having been asked to do a reading at my brother's wedding. My family is Jewish and my sister in law's family is Catholic. When she asked me to do a reading, I was honored but I had to think again knowing that Jewish weddings don't have readings.
My sister in law made sure that my brother's family (my sister and myself) read from the OLD Testament and her family read from the NEW Testament. It was more than appropriate for both sides and everyone was happy.
