Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I wanted to hyphenate, but it'll be too long. A co worker of mine did this, it's definitely cool!

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'm doing it!!! I really don't like the hyphen idea. I'm sure everyone will start using my married name eventually but I worked hard to have a great reputation in my school district and don't want to lose that!

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'm doing this too.. I don't have a middle name- plus I am having a hard time giving up my last name- I've had it for 28 years!! LOL Atleast this way, I won't be giving it up completely. FH doesn't mind. I can't hyphenate because my FH's last name has 13 letters!!! My current last name has 8.

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I am keeping my middle name (since family uses it all the time) and my maiden name and adding my FI's name w/o a hyphen. So I can use either or both when I want. I needed to keep my maiden name for professional reasons and didn't want to lose my middle name either.

Thinking off this. I don't need to keep my maiden name for professional reasons, but I just like it too much to give it up!

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'm thinking of doing it. My initials are DCC so my intials would still stay the same except DCF. Its hard because my last name sounds like a man's name but there's just something about my last name that I want to hold onto.

I'm not changing my name at all but my mom uses her maiden name as her middle name. In fact, she did that with my dad and with her second husband.

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I think that's what I'm going to do. Either that or hyphenate. I have to see if my firm can make my email address just my FH's last name rather than hyphenating it. It'd be really annoying for people to have to type: jsunshine-smith@work.com vs. just jsmith@work, you know? I'd put my hyphenated name as my signature though.

I have to say, I think it's very funny that your deciding what your name will be based upon your email address!

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'd love to keep my own or hyphenate as I prefer my last name, but it would sound ridiculous. I would be Mrs. O'Dxxxxxx - O'Hxxxx

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'm just taking FH's name and losing the maiden name

My sister changed her middle name to her maiden. But my middle name has family ancestry involved so I don't want to lose it.

Re: keeping your maiden name as your middle name

I'm keeping my maiden name as my middle name. I don't really like my middle name, I never use it, and I want my maiden name to stay with me for when I get my master's degree.

I am also going to use my maiden name as my middle name because I don't have one, so I am excited I will finally have one, because people don't believe me when I tell them I don't have one!!! BUT my fiance isn't too happy about the idea, but who cares its going to be my name, and I'll be using his last name!

A girl has to have her priorities I just remember having to type out someone's hyphenated name into an email and it was the most annoying thing ever. I promised I'd never do that to someone else
