I was going to write the same question! Our cards say something like, 'Thank you for sharing our special day. Your generousity is appreciated.' I don't want to repeat that!

I wrote this, or a variation, for almost everyone...

Thank you so much for your very generous gift. We're so glad you were able to help us celebrate such an important day in our lives. We hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did.

In general I wrote: Thank you for blah blah blah, rave about gift a bit. (If it was cash..."it will come in handy as we begin to make our new house a home". Sometimes I mentioned something specific we were planning to buy.)

Thank you for coming to the wedding - our day was made even more special since we got to spend it with so many of our family and friends - hope you had as much fun as we did - blah blah blah...

I wrote A LOT in each note...I thought it was kind of fun!

i bought a book the brides guide to thank you notes - it was a lifesaver just copied out of the book

I wrote three different verses and alternated

1) You brought joy to our day
warmth to our lives
and happiness to our hearts.

Thank you for your generous gift!

Then I've been writing personal notes to everyone - my hand hurts!!

I wrote "Thank you for sharing our special day and for the generous gift." Some people, like the bridal party and family we wrote in addition, something personal and "Thank you for all your help" or "We hope you had a good time" or "We enjoyed seeing you" (something to that effect).

i wrote something different for everyone basically because i wanted to be personal. so for one, i wrote something like:
dear so and so

dh and i just wanted to tell you how much it meant to us that you were able to be there on our wedding day. It was great seeing you and your s/o on the dance floor dancing away! you looked great and we really hope that you enjoyed yourselves.

We also wanted to say how much we appreicate your very generous gift. We can't say thank you enough and we appreciate it more than yo uwill know!
