Trouble Sleeping

For the first few months of my engagement I took my ring off to go to sleep. I've always done this with jewelry. My new years resolution was to start wearing it 24/7. I can't sleep with it on. I constinantly wake up to make sure its still on my finger. Is anyone else having this problem.

We are moving in together feb 1 and i don't want to take it off to go to sleep. He may not like that to much.

I'm worried I won't get used to sleeping with it on.

I ALWAYS take mine off before bed and put it in jewelry cleaner for the night. I don't like sleeping with any jewelry on.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

When we first got engaged, I use to take it off before bed & place it back in he box right next to my bed...I was so afraid to sleep with it on...I was speaking to someone & I told them I did this..>They proceeded to tell me, the more you take the ring off, the more you have a chance of losing it...

During the summer my parents were on vacation for 2 months & I was afraid to not sleep with it just in case someone broke into the house while I was sleeping...From that day on, I have slept with it on...It was hard to get use to but now I don't even feel it...I only take it off to take a shower, bc I don't want all that grime to build up in it!

I was told by the jeweler not to constantly clean the ring bc it will loosen the stone....

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I do not sleep with my ring on. I take it off and put it on a crystal ring holder that one of my BMs bought. I am scared that I am going to bang it against something when I sleep. Plus, I cannot sleep with jewelry on.

I've never heard that from any jeweler. Plus, my jeweler steam cleans and tightens my ring every 6 months.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

Mine comes off at night... I just cant sleep with it on... Recently, I've been able to nap with it on... so maybe it is growing on me? It is the first ring I have ever worn!

Actually it can eventually wear away at the gold and/or change the softness of it so thats why they say to be careful with the liquid cleaners.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

Not that you would but I have a very special ring that was left when my dad died and I used to talk it off everynight until it was misplaced now I don't ever take it off and I've gotten so used to it being on that I don't even realize it's on anymore.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I got a ring guard cause it was too big and I never take it off except to clean it.

i actually had a nightmare last night that my ring was fake platinum and that the diamond fell out of the setting- and i woke up and it was ok.

its easy to get used to sleeping with it- id honestly be more afraid if i knew it was sitting out somewhere someone could take it. they would have to rip it off my finger to get this thing from me!!

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I was told the same thing by my FH's aunt - not to put it in the cleaner for more than 3 minutes (mine actually says that) so I clean it once a week.

In terms of wearing it, I wanted this thing for so long and now that i have it...it gets in my way. Does anyone forget to put it on in the morning? There are so many days i forget to wear it - is that horrible?

Anyways, as soon as I get home, it comes off. I am a clutze. I don't wear it to the gym and not when i cook or anything. Plus when I am on the subway, i either wear gloves or twist it around... too nervous as of yet.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I turn mine around on the train to work also.

I take mine off at night and put it in the box from the jeweler. I also don't wear it in the shower because it feels really loose. FH knows and he doesn't mind. :)

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I take mine off at night, and I don't take a shower with it. I'm afraid I'd hurt myself with it if I wore it to sleep lol. FI told me not to wear it in the shower. He also knows I don't wear it at night, and doesn't mind.

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I used to take it off at night...more because I was affraid I would accidently scratch myself in my sleep w/ the stone or the setting. Now I sleep with it on, however I take it off when I am in the shower (I put it in my jewlery box) or when I am blowdrying my hair. Nothing worse than having to fish a ring out of a drain! You will get used to sleeping with it. You probably will not lose it in your sleep. However, I do have to agree, the more you take it off, the higher the chance you will lose it...except if you always put it in one place only and that place is secure.

I keep mine on at night. ONly time I take it off is if we're at the beach, upstate snowmobiling, or working around the house (which we do allllllll the time).

Re: Trouble Sleeping

I wear my ring all the time at night. The only time that I take it off is when I am in the shower cause I don't want to get it filled with soap or damage it in anyway. Most importantly I don't want to loose it down the drain. I even wear it at work since I always have gloves on.

O man...i thought it was only me!!!
I take mine off at night...bc i sleep with my hands under my head, and it would scratch my face. I put it right back in the original box, in the same spot every night....
the only time i DONT take is off....is if im NOT home....if im away, then i have no choice, i dont take a chance.
