Re: Anyone doing and Irish/Green Theme?
I did.
We had an Irish/American band called Summerwind. Played alot of great Irish songs but tons of songs that me and my frends danced too as well.
We had a bagpiper at the church. My DH is in the Emerald Society Pipe and Drum band and they marched in and played some tunes at the reception.
My girls wore green.
I was going to have my centerpieces be shamrocks then have them break up as favors but I went with violets instead.
We decorated the centerpieces with shamrocks...I will try to find pics.

Re: Anyone doing and Irish/Green Theme?
you can name the tables after counties in Ireland - Or if you're into Irish authors you can name tables after Irish writers - there are so many great ones - James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, WB Yeats, etc.
You can have step dancers perform while people are eating dinner - very cute if it's kids from a step dancing school.
ummm, you can have a ceili band play traditional music.
You can have give Irish soda bread as a favor. . . . or serve traditional type food - shepherd's pie, champ, etc.
uilean (sp?) pipes are really beautiful - Irish version of bagpipes. Bagpipes are always a hit.
hope your friend has a great time!
