Is it true Davids Bridals Wedding Dress are sold from the rack and not ordered?

I got my dress and besides being the wrong size it was dirty so my mom asked to speak to the manager and when my mom said I think we were given the sample dress she corrected my mom and said" We dont have sample dresses, Davids Bridal sells off the rack" we were shocked- and then she continued to say the dresses are tried on and then we either have it here or get it from another store and then we clean them. Did anyone know this or am I the only one? Im a bit pissed to know my dress is NOT brand new and its not cheap they have over $1000 dresses there. and that they are not ordered from the manufacturer but shipped from another store !

Depends on the location , but you can usually do both.

Carle Place- I guess they dont but they are so misleading they make you think its being ordered when its NOT!! If they told me when I was trying on dresses that if I find a dress that is mine off the rack I wouldnt have bought there, the place is filthy in the dressing rooms. Im really mad

dont accept the dress if its dirty tell them you want one in perfect condition or you want your money back i wouldnt spend 1000 dollars on a dress and accept it in less then perfect condition.

David's sells them off the rack. Usually they won't order them. If it's dirty or damaged they can get it from the other store. That's just how they work. I went there to get an idea of how certain sytle dresses looked on me then went to Bridal Reflections. I didn't like the service at Davids

I bought my dress there an am getting my bms dresses there. I got lucky with my dress- it was a transfer from another store because it was discontinued, but I had already decided that when it came in I wasn't going to buy it if it had any look of wear. When it came in, luckily it looked brand new.

As for my BMs, I asked them if they were going to be ordered brand new, and they told me that as long as you order far enough ahead of time, they come from their warehouse. If you order too late, then they will be shipped from another store.

It is sad that each store seems to have their own story... I just hope when the dresses come in that they look good or I will be pissed!

I just picked up my dress from Davids Bridal yesterday....and they had to to order it for me.....The one I tried a few months ago was the same size that I was getting - but they told me that they had to order one and didnt offer me the one off the racks - so I don't know if it depends on the individual store - I went to the one in Queens....and my dress is perfect quality - brand new....

ADVISE FOR YOU Report them to the Better Business Bureau. You can do it online. The go after the company and the company HAS to respond to you. I reported Kay Jewelers and I got my money back within 2 weeks. The website address is www.bbb.org Email them. NOW Let me know if you need any help FM me

wow i didnt know that.....i went there and fell in love with a a dress that i saw there. but the place is very dirty and the people are not so nice so i held off on putting a deposit down. now that i am currently living in florida....still getting married on long island i was thinking of visiting the store that is by my house in tampa.....hopefully it will be better then up there.

Used to work for David's Bridal, so I know how it works there.

OK, so there are a SELECT FEW dresses that are not sold off the rack. They are the Oleg Cassini dresses. If it isn't an Oleg Dress, it's sold off the rack. Sometimes you can order a brand new one, sometimes you can't. But yes, they do often transfer in dresses from another store.

Here are your choices:

Go to another David's, and tell them how unhappy you were with the service you received in Carle Place. That David's will fall all over itself to make you happy. That's what happened to me when I had my dress nightmare. Danbury screwed me over, so Carle Place kissed my behind.

Or

Go someplace else for your dress. Honestly, I used to work there (the Danbury CT store), I got my dress there. I don't recommend David's to anyone. If you want a good price you can find it elsewhere.

You really should check ot Lillettes Bridal in Baldwin. Pat helped me and she was great. I love dealing with her and the dress is being made for me as we speak. 516-546-5660 Their prices are great too

I can't speak for David's Bridal as a whole, but I can tell you my experience with them thus far...

I found my dress at David's Bridal. After I found it, I went all over Long Island looking for another dress that I liked as much, and for the same price, but couldn't find one. I just couldn't get "my dress" out of my head.

So, I went back to David's in Carle Place. They didn't have my size (they had a 2 and 6 but not a 4) so they ordered me a brand new one.

The dress came in within 12 days of ordering it and is absolutely brand new. Being a less expensive dress, it probably wasn't made to order, and was probably made in surplus in a warehouse, but it is bright white and perfectly new. It even looks a little stiff and needs a good pressing, but I imagine most lower-priced gowns do after being shipped!

I think what I liked about David's Bridal was that, as a petite bride, I had the option of trying on a huge selection of dresses in sizes remotely close to mine!

Having been to other, more upscale bridal salons, I realize that David's is more on the budget side. If you love the "salon feel" and are looking to be a little pampered (totally understandable as a bride to be!!) then David's might not be the place for you. For me, I found a dress I love at a great price, which has allowed me to spend money on other aspects of our wedding.

i got mine for a great price at Lillettes I went to Davids Bridal and they pulled a number on me. The nasty saleslady told me I measured a size 18. When I heard that I almost fell down. They wanted to make money on alterations. When I ordered my dress from Lillettes I measured a size 10 that is a big difference.

I think its a hit and miss. I went to the David's Bridal in Carle Place and the service was great. Just waiting for the call to say my dress is ready.

OK...Now I am freaking out that my dress is going to be dirty and used!!!!!! I had a great experience ordering my dress from there but now hearing all of this, I am nervous!!!!!

Don't freak out. No need to stress. I am sure it will be fine!!

Before you take it home, TRY IT ON. They don't tell you to do this, but tell them you want to try it on before you sign the form saying there is nothing wrong with it. I did - I wanted to, plus my mom insisted:) If it comes in any less than perfect, speak with someone, don't sign the form, and ask them if they can order you a brand new one.

i'm telling you to notify www.bbb.org before u pick up the dress. Let them put Davids Bridal on notice. Trust me they will cater to your every need if you do this. I checked out Davids Bridal on the better business website and they had a lot of bad reports but 99% were resolved already because the BBB got involved DO it now so u are not sorry later. Ask your mother. Mothers are always right

I've used david's for occassion dresses, etc. They DON'T order them. If you try one on in the store you can take that one home. They may order one as a transfer form another store but you don't know what condition its in. I'm sure there may be exceptions , but as a rule, david's is an "off the rack" place

My friends dress was ordered for her. I guess if your dress is in seaons the order if not they take it from the rack.
