Past Watermill Brides - Can you hear the traffic from the outside area?

I want to have my ceremony/cocktail hour outside but tonight I heard so much traffic. Do you think it will be the same during the day with 175 guests. I mean during the ceremony everyone is quiet and the gazebo is right against the street. Let me know, please :)

Hmm I dunno but there is ALWAYS traffic over there.

Everytime I have been there for an event there was a VERY long wait/back up making the left at that light right there.... to the point where I was late to a friends wedding, but she got married at 6pm on a friday night

Went to a wedding there in July although they had musicians at their outdoor CH you could still hear the traffic a little- it wasn't really loud though very faint.

We looked at Watermill. We almost booked our wedding there. I think there were two outdoor cocktail hour areas. The one that went with the downstairs room was not noisy at all (we were there on a Saturday morning & we could not hear any traffic), but the one that went with the upstairs room was close to Rte. 347 and I thought you could definitely hear that traffic. Which room are you considering? when we were there they had music playing outside. It sounded so nice near the ceremony area.

Not sure about this having never been to Watermill - but Fox Hollow has the same set up (ceremony area beside Jericho Turnpike). I did not hear the traffic at a May afternoon wedding.

What time did you go? Traffic on a Friday night is typically heavy - people heading home between 3 - 7 p.m. Traffic during the day is not as bad (except rush hour - 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. on the weekday).

Oh thank you girls. You made me feel so much better about it. It was Friday night at 7:00 that I saw it. I would be in the downstairs room. My wedding would be on a Sunday at 12:00. I couldn't distinguish the difference between the 2 cocktail hours. Is it possible that he only showed me the one for the downstairs room b/c of the # of people I would be having?

Also did any of you add anything to your wedding from them?

Yea they usually only show you the room that would be used for your wedding
