votive place cards at Villa Lombardi's - updated with pics of floralytes & one pic of LED tea lights
Is anyone doing votive place cards at villa Lombardi's?
We both like Villa Lombardi's but I did not have my 2 page list when we visited at the last minute a few weeks ago.
I was just reading posts about them not allowing votive place cards - which I really want to have.
Anyone have a way around this (alternatives) since I do not want to put them on the tables - defeats the purpose of having guests see the table full of votives to pick out their name.
Thanks ladies.
P.S. Carlyle on the Green said the same thing, guests would have to carry the votive around during cocktail hour so it's best to put them on the tables and have paper place cards - but why would I make 2 sets of place cards?!?!

Re: votive place cards at Villa Lombardi's
they do not want guests picking up a lit candle and transporting it at all. I plan on using glowsticks with the tealight inside unlit of course, then having the guests carry the votive placecards into the reception after CH and having them lit (after taking the glowsticks out) once everyone is seated.

Re: votive place cards at Villa Lombardi's - Updated with floralyte pics
I came up with one idea but it's way more expensive than tealights.
I can use floralytes and votive candle holders.
Floralytes last for about 36 hours (24 hours if submerged in water). Problem is they are like $3 each....way more expensive than making 140 or so votive/tealights for my 193 list.
This is what my test looks like. I put marbles in the votive holder to make the floralyte centered. I have a puplre one (which looks blue in the pic but it's purple) and a white one.
Pardon the frosted Alcatraz shot glass. I have no plain frosted votives yet.Floralyte pics

I found an LED tealight - updated with pics of LED teallight
215.76 24 packs of 6 LED tea lights at 8.99 ea. 28.66 72 frosted votives at cudge.net 28.66 72 frosted votives 273.08 total for 144 with LED flame
So, it's fairly expensive to do this idea since the actual tea lights and votives would cost about $80 ($18 for 200 tealights and under $50 for 144 frosted votives).
This is what the LED tea lights look like (ebay.com).

Re: votive place cards at Villa Lombardi's - updated with pics of floralytes & one pic of LED tea lights
The glow sticks are not a bad idea. I'm assuming that the glow sticks are actually small enought put inside the glass ( like glow earrings)That might not be too expensive at a novety store. Also, rather than making two types of place cards. You can have the votives as well as a big posterboard with all the guests name on it and place it in a 20x30 frame.
For my wedding, we used the votive candles and people looked and either blew out their own candle & took it with them or waited until they came out of cocktail hour. Some people never even took them at all. It didn't really matter as long as they knew where they were seated. Besides, the caterer has a master list anyway .

I love the idea of votive place cards - it looks so pretty but I think it is annoying to have to carry around during the coctail hour??? I am just imaginingmyslef as a guest and trying to carry a lit candle while stuffing myself with coctail hour food!

Nope, same lights - $3 each for purple. The LED candles on this site are even more expensive.
