I picked up my dress on Sunday w/pics and a vent.

And so the bullshat begins…

FMIL and her boyfriend (referred to in this post as Idiot) met FH and I to go and pick it up at David’s Bridal. First words out of idiots mouth are “What happened to your face? Is that the measles?”. For those of you that don’t know, I am on Accutane and it makes the acne worse before it gets better. I tell him whats going on, and he says “Oh I am glad you are getting that cleared up.” FMIL walks out and asks the exact same question. No hello, good morning. I’ll be the first to admit I am sensitive about my skin, but don’t these people have any fecking MANNERS?!?!?

In the car on the way to David’s Bridal (the one in Long Island City), FMIL tells us that her sister has been inviting distant relatives to our wedding. WHAT THE FECK?!?!?! Thankfully, FMIL told her to quit it, unless she was planning to pay for these extra people. FH is going to call his aunt and see how many people she invited and how much damage she caused. What are we supposed to do if we find they have already been verbally invited?

We get to David’s, my dress is there. I asked to try it on, to make sure everything was okay. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor by letting me try it on, showed us to the dressing room and just left. The dress was in lots of plastic and has a big skirt, so FMIL and I were struggling to get it out and get it on my body. The sales people passed by several times and did NOTHING to help, even after we asked. They just kept telling us to buy a garment bag. I finally get into the dress, and while it’s a little too big, it looks wonderful. I am as in love with it now as I was when I first saw it.

I learned a lesson about David’s- once they have your money, they just toss you aside. It’s a good place for deals on dresses, but their customer service leaves much to be desired. I will be getting my alterations done elsewhere.

On the way back, FMIL starts talking about how cute FH’s niece will be as the flower girl. We hadn’t told her that we weren’t having a FG or RB. FH’s goddaughter asked to be the FG, and we told her no, b/c then ALL of the little girls would have to be a FG. I do not want the hassle of 8 FG’s and 3 RB’s. In addition to the hassle, we would be expected to pay for ALL of them. Like we are the Rockefellers or something!

I am sorry about all the drama but when I got to the picture of you looking so stunning and gorgeous is that beautiful dress, the drama slipped my mind. You look like a princess!!!!

okay, that was pretty rude! who says that about someone's face like that? UGH!

That sucks about your FMIL's sister inviting people... what is that?

As for David's Bridal... that is so rude, but honestly, from what i've heard about them, I'm not really suprised. I hope they don't do that again

Too bad you are going to have to set FMIL straight about everything - as hard as it is dont prolong telling her the truth about the FGs!

REALLY LOVE YOUR DRESS!!! i love the low waist and big poofy bottom...it's very flattering and thinning, and you look gorgeous...even without the hair and makeup all done! it's great that it's a little too big also - better than the opposite:) good luck!!

I agree, I was all caught up in your vent and was ready to sail my own bride-to-be vigilanty group until....I saw the smile on your face, and your stunning dress....absolutely gorgeous. Make sure you give a review of the exact store, now that you have your dress, you have nothing to worry about!!

With davids they don't care you remeber i was telling you at the gtg about them. I would never go there either again.

I was on accutane too about four or five years ago...so I know what you're going through right now (getting worse before it gets better) but in the end it's as if you never had a problem...sorry that you have to deal with such rude comments. HOWEVER, you look stunning in your dress

Ok - most important thing - Your dress is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I love it love it love it. I went to Davids and either missed that dress or couldnt find it - am tempted to go back there just to see it in person. Again - stunning.


Next thing - people are rude. Name the skin medication - and I was on it at one point. Retin-A, Proactive, Accutane, cheap stuff, expensive stuff - you name it. I was really sensitive about how my skin looked too and I'm so sorry that FMIL and her boyfriend were so plain rude to you that morning.

You'll look fabulous on your wedding day - the dress is wonderful and you'll be glowing!
