QOTD - PART II - Do you believe FI was your one true love... PLUS

So NYLIbride and Bunnymonkey alluded to this with the answer to number one. FI and I talked about this the other night and how we are remarkably well suited to one another. Two pieces of a puzzle, most who meet us say. Well, then the idea of one perfect person, which I suggested, he felt strongly was not the case given that there are widow/ers, who go on to find true love again. Where does this fit into everyone's perception of one true love?

I have dated enough guys that I could have potentially seen myself spending the rest of my life with. The difference with my FH now, is that he seems to be the most natural love. I know that the real work will begin after the actual wedding - but up to now, everything about my relationship has been so fluid - that I couldn't see myself with anyone else. Before I started dating my FH, I actually used him as a benchmark to measure other guys against - so for me, I believe I could have had other "soul mates" that worked fine - but none would have fit to this extent.

I believe as we change and grow, different people can meet our various needs. However, I do believe we are given choices to be with the person who gives us the opportunity to be the best person we can be. Or we can choose the opposite and be unhappy. I don't know if I could meet another person who fullfills me in the way my FH does. But my needs later in life if he were to go(don't even want to go there) might be different than the ones I have now. So I don't know if that answers the question but I think it explains how widowers find true love again. I think those who have the capacity to love well can find it again. The key is loving and knowing yourself first. So I guess I don't believe in one, true love. But I do believe finding what you need to make you complete is very rare indeed.
