My Sept 5 Wedding review w/some pics-It's a long one!!

Ok so I finally am going to write my review of my wedding on Sept 5…actually I wrote a review last week but my cr*p computer logged me out. Anyway I'm over it, moving on. My wedding day was so perfect. As far as the weather it was exactly what I wanted. I hate the heat and so afraid of being the sweaty bride, but the day was cool and breezy which was fine by me. All in all every one of my vendors was great, I have no major complaints, on to the review.

Hair:
Nikki from Cactus salon-A+
She is actually a good friend of my sister and I booked her right after I had my hair trial. She was so great, got there exactly on time. She did my sis first and it was beautiful, then mine. I changed my mind after the trial and made her put a side part instead of all straight back. After she was done with me she waited around for like an hour until my FG got there. Anyway in this hour I was so obsessed with my hair that I kept asking her to fix it. I’d see one curl and say Can you fix the other curl on this side to look like the one on the other side. I know I was kookoo but she was great.

Makeup:
Christina from Mary Kay-A+
I am someone who does not wear makeup (I too lazy in the morning and I don’t know how to apply it) Anyway Christina made me look so natural but yet it still showed up in pics. My eyes looked so dramatic in pics I loved. Everyone complimented my makepup all day. She is so nice and very talented and does whatever you ask for. She also did my sis’s makeup (another non makeup wearer) and she also looked so great.

Limo:
Sir Oliver-A+
We had to get the H2 limo just cause it was so fun to look at. It was right on time to get the guys, bring them to church, then come get me and the girls. We literally arrived at the church at exactly 4:00. The driver (whose name I do not remember, I don’t remember much from that day) was very nice and had everything flowing smoothly. He even recommened that I don’t use the aisle runner cause it may make me trip on the carpeted aisle. Then we had Sir Oliver send a car for us the next day to bring us to the airport for only an extra 50 bucks, and again this driver was right on time. They were great and always very friendly people to deal with.

Church:
Holy Cross Lutheran in Ronkonkoma-A+
Finding a church for us was very difficult. I was raised Catholic but have not been in a Catholic church in years and felt very uncomfortable being married in one. My husband was raised Baptist but he never really went to church so we were sort of lost. I called Holy Cross Lutheran they were so nice from the begining. The pastor was a little hard to get in touch with but her secretary was so nice and helpful and answered all my questions. Pastor Raggie made us so comfortable about everything when we were discussing things with her and she is so open to different people.

What can I say…he was the best. I got my proofs back last week and they are all so much more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. He showed up early to the hotel to start with my pics and he was so efficient and easy going that it made everyone so comfortable. He even made me a throw away bouquet when I didn’t get one from the florist. We both have really big families and he was very patient getting all the portraits done in record time and he only needed to steal us away from the reception for a few minutes to take pics of me and husband. He is so great and I highly recommend him…in fact I think my sister will probably use him for her wedding next year.

Florist:
Port Jefferson Floral-A
Kathy really did a beautiful job on all the bouquets, they were so colorful and everyone kept complimenting me on them. The only thing she forgot was the throw away bouquet, and the delivery girl said she would call and ask. When she asked Kathy said that I never ordered one. I just let it go and made up a quick bouquet at the reception (actually Artie made it up). Anyway later on I did check my contract and it does say on it throw away bouquet. But no big deal…I would definately use her again. She was so reasonable priced and threw in so many extras for free.

Reception:
The Meadow Club-A+
People have been raving about this place since the day after the wedding. The food, the setting the service, it was all great. The bridal attendant and maitre’d were so helpful and nice the whole time. The room was huge and very beautiful. Of course like many other brides I can’t give you first hand opinion on the food since I barely ate anything…but I did try the mashed potatoes and they were great. My cake was adorable and everything was set up so nicely.

DJ:
Parties Alive-A+
I can not for the life of me remember the names of the DJ and MC but they were the best. I mean they had a hard job because I had so many different types of people there, so do you get all these people dancing. Well they did, for the whole night. Everone danced and had such a great time too, I was so thrilled. Picking a dj can be very nerveracking when you think about it they can really make or break a party. Well they made this party so great…I highly recommend them.

Well I think that’s it, I hope I didn’t forget anything or anyone. Thanks to all the people on here for their advice. I never posted all that much but when I did I got such great and helpful ideas. Also just a few words of advice….my husband and I both went through quite a lot to get where we are especially through this wedding planning. I lost a few friends in the process. You unfortunately learn who really does care about you and turns out it’s not the people you think will be there. Anyway we both had our families and close friends there to support us and that made the whole day. Not once did I think about who didn’t come and how disappointed I was cause when it comes down to it, it really doesn’t matter. Anyway just enjoy your self, the people that will be there are the people who love you and they are there for you guys. So have fun and just realize how lucky you are to have found this one person and to have people that you care about there to share it with you.

I also used Artie & he is the best! Very funny, very easy to work with and a very creative photographer to boot.

Thanks..that's my mom and her crazy siblings. They're a good time though.


I did realize that I forgot to review the gowns. The BM gowns were all from the Pardise Bridal is Patchogue. I have to say they were always very nice to deal with. The only problem I had was that my dresses did not come in until 2 weeks before the wedding. Everything worked out fine but I mean talk about last minute and they were ordered in Jan. It was just something I didn't need to have to deal with right before my wedding. But everything turned out ok and I also got my veil from them which was so beautiful, I want to walk around the house in it all the time!! But anyway my dress I made...mind you I started about 2 yrs ago, messed once and had to start over. There were many times I thought of giving up and buying one but I knew I would regret it. So I just sucked it up and worked harder on it. Thanks again guys!!
