Re: Recipe for ribs in the crock pot

DH & I threw the ribs in and covered them with barbecue sauce and one sliced medium onion. They were awesome!

You can use any sauce you'd like. We used the regular old Waldbaums brand. But feel free to get creative.

Mine are in the slow cooker as I type. I threw some Emeril's BamB-Q sauce on it and lick my fingers everytime I turn the ribs!

How often do you turn them? Do you put the sauce on top or do you paste them with the sauce? I heard they fall right off the bone and are so yummy. Also, how long do you cook them?

I put the ribs in and poured the sauce over them. I think I may have turned them 3 or 4 times while cooking just to make sure every bit was covered in the sauce. I cooked mine for 10 hours for them to be tender enough to fall off the bone. These were big ribs though.

Re: Recipe for ribs in the crock pot

Eventhough I am very against browning meat first, I admit, when I made my ribs the other night, I browned them first, in a skillet with a touch of olive oil. The ribs were sprinkled with pepper and paprika before going in the skillet.

Slice an onion and put on the bottom of the pot.

Put in ribs (we prefer the country-style)

Cover with favorite BBQ sauce (16oz bottle).

Cook on high 3-4 hours (we don't usually have the time for low and I don't like leaving mine on when I'm not home).

I do not turn the ribs. When you open the lid, you let heat escape, and my understanding is the temperature drops sharply.

When I poured in the BBQ sauce, I made sure to coat each of the ribs really well.
