Can't believe the condition people leave their places in when they move out!
We spent the whole weekend cleaning and it doesn't even look like we made a dent yet! The place is infested with spiders so I bought 6 bug bombs. AND they broke a tile in the floor moving out. AND they turned off the water under the sink before we moved in. Suspicious. When we turned it back on and left for a few hours, the whole bathroom was flooded! AHHHH!

I agree with you, our house didnt have damage but was filthy! (by my standards at least!)
With the damage, talk to your lawyer, if the money hasnt been released from escrow you can get them to pay for hte damages! We had to call our lawyer after we got the keys to tell her to release that money to the sellers!

Yeah, I'd call the lawyers too. That was not the condition of the tile when you did your final walkthrough and the bathroom sink wasn't in working condition (if it was specified to be so in your contract).

I have to get people to come and give estimates to fix the tile and sink, so that means taking more time off work when I wanted to save my days for the wedding! I am so pissed.

Re: Can't believe the condition people leave their places in when they move out!
I hear you load and clear. I moved in my new home 30 days ago and I am still cleaning. When I first moved in I wanted to make sure I cleaned the kitchen and the bathrooms and that took me an entire weekend. I also cleaned the rest of the house in the following weekends but I have to tell you it's taking some time to get it as clean as I like it.
All I know is that I spent another day cleaning all the windows and for some reason there were cob webs and dust galore. All the light fixtures had to be soaked -- believe me the more you live there the more you find.
Anyway, as competitive as the market is and was when Dh and I were looking I'm just happy to have a house. Once it's all cleaned up the way I like it and we do all the painting it will be just what I wanted.

Oh sorry I went off on a tangent --
Anyway, the previous owners should pay for the repairs since legally they have to disclose this information on the "Full Disclosure Form". I'm kind of surprised that they did not disclose this information b/c they can be sued for nondisclosure.
I would definately talk to your lawyer about this....
Good luck and hopefully once this is resolved you can enjoy your new home.

There is no doubt they will have to pay; I am just pissed I have to take so much time off to wait for estimates and repair men! I am so pissed. I don't have the time to take all these days off!

Re: Can't believe the condition people leave their places in when they move out!
I remember when my family moved out of our old house the people that were buying had a stipulation added to the documents that asked for the house to be broom cleaned. Needless to say we pretty much cleaned the entire house it looked spotless when we moved out. The thing that really pissed us off was that they wanted the house to be clean and they proceeded to knock the entire house down. They didn't live in the house for even one day they knocked the house down and did all the work before they moved in.

Oh no I didn't mean that to be snippy! I'm just frustrated with the whole thing--didn't mean to sound rude!
