Cablevision Box Question

I had a cable modem in Lynbrook and I just moved to bellmore. I tried to hook the cable modem up but it doesnt work. The cable is coming from upstairs, and we do not have our own box yet...but we are planning to get one soon. I was wondering if the reason the box isnt working is because the box was cancelled in Lynbrook where I used to live, and it was never turned back on...So therefore it doesnt work.

Does anyone work for Cablevision that can explain this to me and let me know what I need to do.

I don't work for cable, but yes if you cancelled the box and modem services it won't work. The cable box (for the TV) is basic and your in laws have IO digital, there may be a compatability issue so splicing the wire will not correct the problem either. I would be leary about hooking up the box without getting the ok from cablevision.... I know people that had their boxes zapped and rendered useless by Cable for signal theft, not to mention paying a really stiff fine too.

because of the cards in the io boxes, they need to be regeistered to get a signal

as for the modem, they need the ip address..it will work for about 6 days with out regestering...

no no you dont understand...both houses have IO digital....but I guess you are right about the cable modem....They must if shut it off when my parents cancelled the cable in lynbrook.

Hell if that worked for you... then anybody can just go out buy a cablevision box and steal their cable.

My DH works for cablevisio. Once you cancel service the boxes will no longer work. You also have to return the boxes otherwise u usually will get hit with a crzy amount for them. If you bought the Modem (which u probably did) then it's ures but u still need to set up service before it works. Good Luck.

He likes Sales. He gets pretty decent Comission. I know Lunatrek Works for Cablevision and I know there are some others who's DH work for Cablevision!

I believe Lunatrek no longer works there...She moved out of state.

I worked for Cablevision for almost 10 years, in Hauppauge though.

Just a little warning...don't feed off our your landlords cable upstairs. A seperate apt. needs a seperate acct. Hefty fines if you get caught

That is how it was wired before. I am going to have my own cable as soon as possible.
