Re: Bird cage/envelope collector???
Oh god, that is so beautiful! What a great idea. Soneone posted a picture of there a few months back and she made it from the collage picture frames and made it into a box. I am in the process of trying to do the same. Wish me luck.

That was me...this was what we made.
We ended up changing the top because we weren't that happy with it. It ended up looking like this...

Re: Bird cage/envelope collector???
I like the idea of a birdcage as well...I was going to go to some thrift stores and antique places in the city to try and find a unique looking one. I saw a pic in a magazine that took an old one, spray painted it gold, and tied a beautiful monogrammed card to the front with the couples initials on it, then hung from the cieling. I might be a bit ambitious at this stage in the game, but I am going to try it.
ETA: Of Course, my mother is insisting on using the "bousta" (spelling?) the Italian/Sicilian bag that is brought around to collect envelopes. It's tradition, but I think it's tacky!

Re: Bird cage/envelope collector???
Hi...you're welcome. I made it for my sister's wedding and it came out great. Lots of compliments. For those that asked, here's how we did it...
First I bought 4 8x10 frames and 8 metal "L" fasteners. The first thing we did was put the pictures in and attach the frames at the top and bottom. I bought 2 square pieces of decorative wood from Michaels and painted one black for the base. Hot glue or fun tack the frames to the base. Then we cut out a slit in the top one and then painted that black. Attach the same as the base. You can modify this for whatever works for you!
Good luck!

Re: Bird cage/envelope collector???
shameless plug below...
I have an undecorated bird cage on Ebay that I was going to use; but decided not to. It's in the shape of a house (which is appropriate considering all the cash that goes into it is usually for a house!)
