Great Idea for Outdoor Wedding....
I will be back to give you girls a review of my wedding at the Woodbury Country Club on 7/11/04 and Aruba HM which was fantastic but for those of you who are planning the Dove Release was a huge hit at my wedding. Macy @ White Wings did mine for me and let me tell you, it was a hit. I had the two love birds in the cage set up as a display and we released three birds out of one basket to symbolize me, my son and my husband followed by ten birds in another basket. She was so great to work with and i felt like we had been friends forever by the time my wedding came around. FM me for contact info. Happy Planning........

Re: Great Idea for Outdoor Wedding....
I always imagined having butterflies, but then someone told me it was cruel...alot of the butterflies die I guess.
Doves sounds humane (and breathtaking!) ...are they doves they catch and then re-release, or do they breed them for this purpose? Is that a dumb question?

Re: Great Idea for Outdoor Wedding....
i was so worried about all the stuff i heard about them but she reassured me of everything and my mom commented on how well behaved they were even in the hot sun. it was too funny because when we let the first three out, one of them was going in the other direction and my minister said that was the kid because they always want to do theiir own thing and then the bird turned around and followed the other two. i thought it was so symbolic for the three of us. Macy was there on time, had everything set up to go and was there to help with the release. She even contacted me after the wedding to say hello. It was worth every penny!!!! It was a great way to seal the ceremony....
BunnyMonkey: This is not a dumb question because that is the first one i asked There are homing pigeons and white rock pigeons. These are homing pigeons which are specially trained. They always go back home. white rock pigeons which is what you see on the street cannot be trained and are usually passed off as doves but you can quickly tell because they will fly onto the ground or on the trees. homing pigeons fly in a circle, waiting for everyone and they fly home together. They are pampered with mineral baths and special food so you don't have to worry if you are throwing bird seed at your wedding because they don't eat it

Re: Great Idea for Outdoor Wedding....
I heard that butterflies are expensive and involves a process. They come from California, and have to be "woken" up 45 minutes prior to release.
