Where are you going, where are you staying, for how long, for how much, and what is there to do OFF of the resort? TIA

We are looking to go to Cabo San Lucas for our honeymoon although we haven't made the arrangements yet. We're planning on just lounging by the pool and the beach for the most part but FH has his heart set on the ATV tour and I read about a restaurant where you can get a table out on the rocks in the water - fun! Other than that we just want to relax.

Re: Mexico Honeymooners/Travelers Past, or Future . . .

it depends what you like to do... if you are interested in visiting some historical sites, Riviera Maya is great... you can visit: Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum, they are just beautiful...

We're looking to stay at the Hilton - saw it on the cover of a 2004 Best Resorts Guide and fell in love.

Re: Mexico Honeymooners/Travelers Past, or Future . . .

we went to zihuatanejo, mexico, on the West side of the Mexico, about a 3 hour drive North of Acapulco.. it's the place they go to at the end of Shawshank Redemption. We stayed there for 7 days in a hotel with only 7 rooms- it was fanastic- the hotel was only $199 a night, we were literally 100 yards from the beach, and a 3 minute cab ride to the town.

edited to say we didn't stay on a resort- i'm not a huge fan of resorts- we stayed in a luxury hotel.. there were tons of restaurants right on the beach- we ate our breakfast with our feet in the sand!

also- there was tons to do- lots of water sports.. we also took a chartered boat - just the 2 of us- for $70- we went fishing and snorkling for 6 hours and then ended up at the beach- they picked us up by boat @ the hotel :) it was GREAT!

overall we spent $199 night on hotel, $1700 airfare (we went in January- PEAK season) and $900 in spending $ for the week.

Re: Mexico Honeymooners/Travelers Past, or Future . . .

We're spending a week in Acapulco at The Mayan Palace in the HM suite. Aside from the obvious beach and pool stuff, we're planning on going on a deep sea fishing tour, dinner show with cliff diving, and eating a nice restaurants and partying at great clubs. We're probably going to party like rock stars for the first week, then the second week we're staying at Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta. We'll probably do a lot more relaxing this week, but there's tons to do in Puerto Vallarta, about a 15 minute ride away. There are ATV tours and horseback riding, we'll probably do both, scuba, whale watching depending on the time of year, and tons of restuarants and bars. My FH and I like to relax and tan during the days, but we like going our for nice dinners and drinks at night. These two places are going to be just perfect for our vacation style.

It's a possibility for us... only place I really know of though are the Palace Hotels... my parnets have stayed in the Moon Palace and are going back next week to stay in a different one... but I'm not sure exactly what we're doing :)

We stayed at the Royal Hideaway and LOVED it!! I highly recommend it. We really enjoyed just staying at the resort and relaxing, but we went shopping one day in Playa del Carmen, we went to Xcaret one day, and we also took a 1/2 day tour to see some of the Mayan Ruins.

We went to Cabo last year also and it was AWESOME!! We traded our timeshare and stayed for a week at the Fiesta Americana @ Cabo Del Sol. There is plenty to do in the city of Cabo and the water is beautiful. I would definitely recommend it. Only problem - the beaches are very full of pebbles!

Re: Mexico Honeymooners/Travelers Past, or Future . . .

I went to Cancun about 2 years ago. Some things we did away from the hotel were go to Chitzen Itza and the sinkholes where everyone swims, and a snorkeling tour that took you out to a couple different places and gave you a private beach for the day. We stayed at the Hyatt and it was very nice.
First pic is Chitzen Izta, Second is sink hole.
