So, I was home sick today and feeling lousy, but I did some votive placecards for practice (PICS)
I am so happy with how they came out that I am putting these away safely and are going to use them for the wedding! Hopefully they will stay in nice condition for the next year!!!!
Let me know what you think!!!

Re: So, I was home sick today and feeling lousy, but I did some votive placecards for practice (PICS)
Placecard Candles Directions
You will need: Plain glass votive holders; light -medium weight transparent vellum; access to a Laser printer, a good scissors; double sided tape; tealights
Step One: Measure your votive holders to determine the approximate height and length around. Using these measurements, make a template of the shape of your label. Note that even the most plain votive holders will have a slight curvature, so expect the template to be in an arch shape.
* I was not this meticulous about it- I measured my votives out to be 2 1/2 inches, so I divided my document into 4 - 2 1/2 inch sections. If the paper was off, I trimmed it as needed for each one I made.
Step Two: Using the approximate measurements, set up your MS Word (or any other graphic program that is useful for printing text) document to space your guests names and table numbers the right distance. In my case, I got 3 to a page with room to spare.
Step Three: Print out your document. Use the template you made in step one to cut the right shape out of the larger sheets of vellum. Set the labels aside.
Step Four: (get a friend to help if at all possible) Set up a big workstation with all your votives, labels, double sided tape and scissors. Wrap one label around the votive and trim accordingly. When the label is lined up correctly, it will lay relatively flat. Apply the double sided tape and put aside. Having all of the candles in front of you will allow you to keep a consistent appearance of the candles and give you a preview of what they will look like all lined up at the wedding.
* I did not have double sided tape, so I used my glue gun. You can see the spots in the back (paper seam) where I used the glue gun, but you can also see the tape, so I personally didn't care. For the rest of them (in a year when I make them ALL I will use double sided tape because it is easier and faster.
* I attached the ribbon by wrapping it around the votive candle and only gluing with the glue gun at the ends of the ribbon. I started by gluing one end of the ribbon to the back, wrapping oit around the candle, and then gluing the other end down. I used the glue gun to glue down the rosebud. I plan on investing in a paper cutter to make cutting the paper easier when I do the rest, but for the few I made I used a scissor.
Tips: Have candles lit no more than 30 minutes before your guests come to pick them up to ensure they are all still burning when the last guest leaves your reception.
Tip: Using tealights in place of votive candles will result in the candles getting warm but not too hot to touch. However, there is melted wax inside the votive so better to keep away from children.

Re: So, I was home sick today and feeling lousy, but I did some votive placecards for practice (PICS)
I got the rose buds from efavormart on ebay. You don't have to bid, you can buy at anytime, just type in the name under seller search.
The Ribbon came from michaels as did the votive holders.
I bought the vellum off of ebay as well.
I know Laura from LA Productions makes them for a reasonable price (I found that out AFTER I had bought my supplies, but I love making my own crafts!)
Good Luck- FM me with any questions you have!!!!
