Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

ok - I need advice -
Our ceremony doesn't start until 7 pm - we are getting married at Chateau La Mer and getting ready at Melville Marriott - which is prob a good 20-25 minutes from each other - but no closer hotels! We are taking pics before La Mer at Argyle Park in Babylon which is prob 20 min from hotel and about 10-15 from La Mer. When I spoke to Nicole at Duet the other day and explained what we want to do - she said to be ready by 12:30!!!! Ceremony isn't until 7!! I know they are the experts and I know picture taking always takes long - but I feel like that is so many hours ahead - I don't want everyone to have to get ready super early and I feel like I don't want to have to be made up and hair done so many hrs before - I feel like by the time I am walking down the aisle I will look like a sweaty mess (august 1st) - what do you think of the timing - should I ask to push it later a bit? Does it sound right to you?
Thanks!!

I'm no expert but that seems WAY too early! Besides sweating in your dress all day what about eating?? I know I wouldn't want to eat in my dress until the reception...knowing me I'd make a mess! I always have food on my mind!

It does sound like a long time. Even if you figure 30 minutes to get to Argyle, that still leaves six hours before your ceremony. I don't see how they could use all that time, even with taking photos of you and your girls and you and FH. I'd call and ask them their timeline to see what they're thinking.

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

I'm sorry - i forgot to add this - they want to take pics at hotel first - and they said we will prob get to Argyle around 2:30 - I want to be at La Mer by 5:30. I don't see why we need so much time to take pics at the hotel though - FH is getting ready there and wants to meet me at park - so it will just be me and the girls at hotel!

Hey Michal, haven't spoken in a while!!!!!

Definitely sounds waaaaaaaaaay too early!!!!

I would think that 2 or 3 sounds like more reasonable time.

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

we are in the same boat as you. our wedding ceremony starts at 6pm. we are taking pictures before the ceremony at the old westbury gardens around 2:00, so that means that my BP and myself need to be ready no later than 12:30pm so the photog can take pics at my home.

Actually, Im going to go against all odds and say that this is right. If you are leaving the hotel at 2:00 for the park then they would want to take some pics of you getting ready and some pics at the hotel. From the albums that I saw, they start taking pictures of you getting your hair and makeup done and getting dressed. Just let them know what time the makeup artists plan to arrive.

I'm with the majority here...that sounds WAY too early. Since your ceremony does not start until 7p...how about getting to the hall at 6p instead of 5p. That will 'buy' you an extra hour. Plus, I think getting to the hall one hour before the ceremony is enough time to touch up your make up and have a glass of champagne!!!

Good Luck!!!!

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

Our ceremony is at 6:30 and we are doing pictures before the ceremony in Stonybrook (getting married at PJCC).

My photographer said to be ready to leave the hotel at 2:30. I personally want him to be there a little before 2 to get some details but I think 12:30 is a bit early.

I'm with divabride- it's probably that early only because Duet will film the entire day for you- including getting ready. Did she mean that you had to be ready at 12:30? or that they were going to start filming at 12:30? That may make a difference....

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

OK- it seems early, but it kinda makse sense.

My photographer said they come 2 hours before we leave too.
I'm not sure what's all going on then, but I'm assuimg some getting ready pics & me alone & with my side of the family & BP.

2 hours does seem like a lot, but that appears to be the standard.

The differnence is that we are going straight to the church. For you, they are taking the timethat would be spent takign pictires afterthe ceremony & putting it before the ceremony & adding it to the normal 2 hour pre-leaving photo time.
Thats' why it is so long.

Does that make sense?
The only thing I can think of is schedule less time at the park.

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

I'm in the same boat too and I think the timing is actually pretty good. My girls and I will stay over at the hotel so we can get ready the morning of. FH and GM, parents and other family will come out in the morning. Our ceremony is at 6:30, I would like to be at the hall by 5:30. We're taking pictures during the day at the Planting Fields and I think 12:30 for the photographers sounds just about right. It leaves them time to get some shots of us getting ready, get a few pictures on the beach and get to PF at like 3pm. Leaves a little over 2 hours for photos and then to the hall, only about 5 minutes away.

Re: Timing for Wedding Day Pics (sorry-long)

I am getting married at 2:00 and my cocktail hour starts at 5:30. The photographer is coming to my house at 12:30 for pictures before the ceremony. Then we are going straight to my hall where the rest of the pictures will be taken.
