Installing the Infant Car Seat

I have a Graco Snugride and put it in the car yesterday.

I followed the instructions for the seat and the car, but the base still seems to move from right to left and vice versa. I have it attached using the latch hooks and pulled the tether as tight as it will go. The seat is level.

I just pictured it being more secure, it seemed years ago before the bases came into the picture and you used just the seatbelt to secure the bucket it was tighter. Anyone else find this?

Re: Installing the Infant Car Seat

go to your local fire dept, they install it for you correctly also if you have a JEEP/chrysler
they do it as well if you have one of their cars, it says so in the baby bargains book

Re: Installing the Infant Car Seat

The front of the carseat base (actually the back, but the part that is closest to the front seat) is going to be loose since it's not strapped there and that's the way to carseat is designed but just make sure you have a very tight fit where the seat base meets the backseat. Is the base sitting UNDER the seatbelt attachments? I dont think Im saying this very clear...but I know what I mean. There are alot of places on LI that you can take it to make sure it's installed properly. Go the NHTSA's website, here's the link NHTSA and put in your zip code and go to make sure it is installed right. Once tip though - dont bother with the car dealerships, you're better off with a Safety center. We initially brought ours to a car place and the guy was so clueless, he basically told us that we needed a different carseat which was BS we found out when we brought it elsewhere.

Hope this helps.
