Do you think sending out STDs positively affects the final count at your wedding?

I sent out STDs, because my wedding is on a Friday night and I wanted all the guests to be aware it was a Friday, so they can make schedule adjustments if need be.

I am just wondering if you all think this helps with the final head count?

Our wedding ceremony is Friday afternoon and I know for a fact it is helping our count for the ceremony. Everyone has taking off work and we are expecting a lot more people then we thought. It is all because of our STD's. We even have many room's booked already at the hotel from the STD's.

I don't think it made a difference for us. There were people who we sent an STD to who still couldn't get the day off or find a baby sitter.
I think the bottom line is, people who want to be there will be, no matter what. Those who don't will still find an excuse!

I don't think so....people will inevitably lose them, misplace them, or forget until they get an invite or people talk about your wedding!! Yours was a magnet, right? That should be easy since it will be put on the fridge and easily visible EVERY DAY from now till then!!

we sent out STD's pretty early, and people have booked rooms at the hotel already. we had a lot of people traveling so we wanted to give them that opportunity. i'm worried that there won't be enough rooms and i am not positive they will let me block more.

we see them on everyones fridge too when we are at their houses.

I hope so!...Our date is 11-05-2005, so we will send out the STD's in November of this year. We decided to do this for the out of towners- so that they have ample time to schedule days off and arrange for travel and such.

Yes I strongly agree that sending out STD positively affects the final head count.
When people recieve them, they usually mark their calendar and as time gets closer, make arrangements....
I think if its a friday weddding I would def send them, because you want to give people advance notice, if they need to take off of work.

I thought sending STDs would have effected by head count, but it didn't. Those who truly wanted to be with us were & others, well what a waste it was sending them STDs. One cousin in particular bothered me the most. I sent out STD's in February, she lives on LI, but tends to take 6 to 8 week trips to see her parents(my Aunt & Uncle) in Florida, well even though she got my STD she planned a trip to Florida where she left August 24 & came Back October 4. Thats right the day after my wedding! Thinking about it still makes me angry & to make matters worse, her parents didn't come because of it & neither did another aunt & uncle who was suppose to drive up with her parents!

I think it definately helps! I am having a Friday wedding also and that is especially why I want to send out the STDs as well.
