Unity Candle Question..Need Advice on lighting situation
I know that the Moms' normally light the tapers...BUT I have a mom and a stepmom (who I am very close to)....so what do I do?? Do I have my grandma do it and his mom? Do I have my stepmom do it since she's Catholic and the unity candle is not a Jewish thing? Could the Dad's do it?

That's a tough one, because you'll probably end up not making everyone happy. How about not doing one? That's what we decided to do. And if it helps your decision, our priest told us it's not a Roman Catholic tradition.

You could also just have them lit by the officiant so no one gets insulted.

We are not having our moms light it. We are lighting it ourselves.

My church had DH and I light the tapers and then light the pillar candle. I have seen it done like this a lot. I actually have only seen the parents light the tapers once and I have been to a lot of weddings!

I have been to a lot of weddings!
Does that make you a "wedding hoochie (I'd use another w word, but don't want to get in trouble)???
Thanks for the advice Niecey...I think we will light all the candles

DH and I are offical wedding guests we are convinced. We are considering renting ourselves out for those that need more guests! Lol!! Seriously we have been to 6-8 weddings a year for at least the last 3-4 years....they are starting to calm down - we only have 3 this year that we know of...at least we love weddings - we always have a great time.
