Dex wants to get married again this summer

we just got married last month but alot of his family from Trinidad didnt make it, he mentioned getting married again over there so that his family can be there, and they do things just a bit differently, supposedly the party lasts for days ..I can handle that challenge...I just dont know if Im up for the whole wedding thing again, a simple casual renewal thing I figured maybe in a few years but a whole other wedding...i dont know. It seems wierd..i dont think I can, it should only happen once right?

oh man, Christine! Not the answer I was looking for! I guess it wouldnt be as stressful this time because we are already married and it wouldnt be as formal there, maybe hes just talking, hes mentioned it a few times and when I got my dress back tonight he said great, you can wear it in Trinidad! Now way, if Im doing this again..im getting a new dress!

Is there someone there to do the leg work for you because of the distance? I am sure some of Dex' family has something in mind or a way weddings usually are so it may not be as difficult to plan.

Sorry Alicia...but I agree with Christine...this would be nice to do for Dex' family...it'll be incredible!!!!! Party your hearts out!!!! Celebrate your love!!!!!!! I also think it is a good idea, however it seems as though it won't be as formal as the one you already had.

West Indians LOVE to party and pardon me if I am wrong, but essentially isn't that what they are looking for.

Why don't you get in contact with a wedding coordinator in Trinidad and discuss the particulars.

Also,you must get a new dress, something lighter, flowy and sexy.

Not a newlywed, sorry to intrude, girl you better go back home(Trinidad) and get married. It will be SOOOOOOOOOOO much fun. I can tell you it'll be a blast, you coul do it at the hilton or on Maracas beach or somthing. It will be gorgeous. I would do it again myself just to get an excuse to boogie, and eat some fabulous food And jet over to Tonbago for a couple nights

you guys are so funny always seeing the bright side of it, Im feeling like a bIT#@#ch now, my feeling is this: his family from Trinidad were all invited to our wedding they consist of cousins, aunts, grandma, ALL were invited to our wedding, NOT ONE RSVPD back saying they couldnt make it, nor did they send a card, meanhwile in january airfare is CHEAP, in fact it is 250 to fly straight to Port of spain..my family all flew in from out of town for more than that and some of the flights were just as long, I guess im resentful because its more money ( although I think his mom really wants this so she would help). We were going anyway this summer because we didnt get to go this year in February, and we would have gone to Tobago anyhow. I guess I should keep my mouth shut and go with the flow? Now the thought of having a party on mracas beach sounds really great! NYCHICK I keep forgetting you are from Trinidad! We were engaged on teriko beach ( i know I didnt spell that right0, but I love maracas, drinkin a cold carib!
NYCCHICK, where in Trini are you from? Dex is from Maraval and St. James.
I guess I need to look at this as you guys are, POSITIVELY, I dont know why I feel so negative about it, but you all gave great advice! Thanks!

NICE!! I have only been so far to Maraval, Moka ( my favorite), St. james, and all over Tobago, its my favorite place in the world!!!! I have never been to Trinidad when it isnt Carnival season, so it will be nice to go this summer...its an amazing place..you guys are lucky to have lived there! There is no other place like it! When I see how he grew up its so great, I had a agreat childhood different, but the weather there is unbelievable! And so beautiful!
Every West Indian I know or have met are the proudest people, be it from Guyana, Trinidad..sooo proud! I made barbecue sauce with carib beer and youd have thought I gave Dex a million dollars, he was so happy!

I would totally do it twice. It's ironic that you post this, hardly any of my family could come from England b/c of the flight cancellations from British Air. Only my cousin made it b/c she came early for my Bachelorette party. Anywhooooo, she suggested going to London to have a 2nd wedding for the England family.... I actually thought it was a cool idea. Nothing formal (they don't really do formal like we do), and just a good time.

I say do it!

Hi, sorry to intrude on the newleywed board! I also think you should do it. Why not, it could be fun! I don't think it would be as stressful, you can make it pretty casul too by just letting everybody come if they want to (maybe don't even bother with an RSVP since they never did it the first time) and have like a buffet style meal for everyone. And I agree - it's an excuse to get a great dress

It sounds to be like it would be nice for his family, as well as a lot of fun! I'd say go for it - it would probably mean a lot to them all! Maybe something less formal - something on the beach maybe?

ETS: I'm having a 2nd, smaller "wedding" in San Diego on my way home from our Hawaiian honeymoon for all my family and friends who can't make it to New York - I'll probably have our marriage blessed in the church I grew up in since we're having our ceremony at the hall and have a small reception.

I HATED PLANNING MY WEDDING... but the day of my wedding was the best day of my life and I would do it all again if I could. I think you should GO FOR IT :) I never had fun like that ....surrounded by my closest family and friends.....it was amazing.

I think you should do it. It would be awesome. But like some of the other girls said, have someone there plan it and don't worry about anything but your dress! Then just go and have fun!!!
