I was all set to go with the before, but FH changed his mind and became very superstitous. Go figure.

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
We are taking pics before the ceremony! We are not supersitious, and we want to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour along with the bridal party and parents. We have a large bridal party, and wouldn't have enough time to do it in one hour anyways. We are getting a strawberry vodka ice sculpture, and I definately don't want to miss out on that! d

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
We are having a small wedding party and our families are small so we are doing as many pics as possible the 1-1 1/2 hours before the ceremony and my photographer said this should be enough time to finish most posed pics.

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
It is just not superstittion, tradition as well. Don't you all want to see you future husband for the first time as you walk down the aisle? It is def a very emotional moment, and everyone gets to witness it, not just the photographer and bp. JMO We were going to take pictures before the ceremony but then decided not to because i want the pictures of us together as man and wife to really be as man and wife

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
We are doing them beforehand. We thought about it long and hard and realized we would miss our whole cocktail hour as well as our BP missing most of it as well. I am paying a lot of money for this party and I want to enjoy every moment of it.
We are going to have our videographer (since he said he would and gave us the idea - he showed us one he had done previously and it was breath taking) set up a special time and place for us to see each other for the first time. This way it will be on video. Then we will have a few minutes alone with each other. I feel that will make it more special since we will be able to speak to each other right away and say what we are feeling. I am way too emotional and don't think I can handle walking down the aisle and him seeing me for the first time at the same time.

Before.... It's still going to be an emotional moment as you walk down the aisle towards him......
and i've heard form past brides that it's an amazing relief to see FH before the ceremony....to calm your nerves!

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
I didn't want to see him before the ceremony, but I think we'll end up taking pictures before - like others said - I don't want to miss the cocktail hour.
(I know for a friends wedding the pictures with just them and the bridal party took darn near 2 hours - I think the photographer was a bit slow, but still, they take a while)

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
We're taking pictures at the hall before the ceremony. Cocktail hour will follow the ceremony. FH and I decided we didn't care about the "seeing each other beforehand" thing.

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
We're doing it before. Sometimes I'm sad because I don't want us to see each other before the big walk (just for the emotion, I'm definitely not superstitious) but then I realize that pics take longer than an hour, and I want to be enjoying my cocktail (and beginning to say thank you to my 250 guests so I can dance during the reception).

Re: Girls getting married at the hall?
After.
A) it's a cocktail hour.. the photos are just as much as fun and part of it as being mobbed by people B) Being married there means I can still enjoy my cocktail hour some, instead of traveling and missing it all together C) I have an early wedding. Meaning I want Noon light during our photos, taking them before would mean early morning light, no thanks. We can get dusk photos later in the afternoon. D) I am SO not a morning person and neither is Jim. He's slower and Im more aggitated and since Im already a task master we'd probably kill eachother if we had to do that stuff early.
I think that about covers it.
