I know it may seem difficult to try to lose weight. But here is my suggestion. You need to try to intake only about 1200-1500 calories per day. Exercise in some way everyday even if you just take a 20 min walk that would help. 20lbs by that time is a little steep but it can be done. Good Luck!!!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
Well i have been going to the gym like 2x per week, try not to eat late and drink lots of water. I am a soda freak so I watch myself because the sugar is NO good. When I go to the gym I go to a class I think that it makes me push myself even more. I don't cheat, I do crunches at home. I wanted to loose 15 and I am down 9lbs, 6 more to go. GOODLUCK

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
Losing weight - did Atkins really serious from July to October. Now just manage carb intake very closely (lost 23lbs).
Getting buff - no idea what that means. Told myself I would start an exercise program after the New Year. Didn't happen. Told myself I would do it before February ends ... we shall see. Needless to say, I'm starting to run our of time.
I really would like my arms to be toned for the wedding!!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
Count your calories!! It's very hard to do, I know.
I am trying a low carb lifestyle. Regular meal is a chicken breast or fish and vegitables, like broccoli, asparagus or mixed salad.
Grapefruits and apples as a snack. Snack on nuts and seeds like almonds, cashews and sunflower seeds. They contain good oils.
Spread your meals out through out the day. Your body will avoid starvation mode, where it stores your fat supplies.
Cardio, Cardio, Cardio!! Try up to 6 times a week for best results!
Good luck,
Kristina

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
South Beach diet + exercise
Get a personal trainer to get motivated if you can. I did this a few years ago and was in the best shape ever. I met with him 2 times a week for an hour each of weight training. Cardio I took care of myself (I don't need babysitting while on a treadmill). 40 minutes of working out 3-4 times a week. Once I started feeling better I stopped eating like a pig.
My father lost 35 pounds on South Beach.

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
It's definitely possible to lose 20lbs by August, healthily!! That averages out to about 4 lbs a month if you start March 1st. That's just ONE POUND per week!! You can do it!! Start NOW, and you'll be ahead of the game, and closer to where you want to be by the time your fittings start which is more important.
All these ladies gave great advice. You have to find what works for you though because the exercise has to be something you WILL do routinely and the dieting has to be something realistic you can stick to.
For me, I love taking step classes. I monitor my carbs but I also buy alot of Weight Watcher meals and Lean Cuisines which forces me to control my eating and count my calories. You have to do some type of cardio at least 3 times a week. And EAT BREAKFAST!!! It keeps your metabolism up.

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
My job offers Weight Watchers classes, so I'm joining the one starting next month. A lot of my friends have said it works and makes you much more aware of proper portion size.

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
Weight Watchers! I have lost 27.2 pounds in about 4 months or so. I mostly eat anything I want and still get to eat carbs. Pizza is a staple of my diet and I need my potatos! I can't say enough about it.
I plan on trying to get to the gym starting in March since I haven't been there in over 7 months. I really want nie arms for the wedding!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
I think the key thing that is helping me is to walk or do some type of arobic work out in the am before I eat. A personal trainer suggested that you need to get your heart rate up and burn some fat off before you eat. If your going to eat salads the more green color the more protein. Also smaller portions when you eat. It should be the size of your fist. I am open for any suggestions that help!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
What about joining a gym with your FH? I bought my FH a membership to my gym for Valentine's Day and now instead of sitting on the couch together at night in front of the TV, we set the VCR and go pump some iron!
Good luck! All of the ladies gave great advice too!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
I would say join Weight Watchers. I've seen people lose weight who went on that. And exercise. The trick is having meals three times a day, but in small, reasonable portions. The portions most people have now are more than they're supposed to have.

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
I am going thru the same thing- I had back surgery and am not allowed to do any kind of exercise except walking and the one my pt gives me, so I am cutting back on the bagels and started eating cereal (Kashi) for dinner w/ some raisins - that way at least I can get started and then begin walking when the weather is nicer - but it is hard! That's for sure!

Re: How are you losing weight and getting "buff" for the wedding and HM?
I've been doing Weight Watchers (although I have to admit I'm not being very good about it this week - very stressed) and I love it because it's easy to get back on track and get to your goals. Also, I go to the gym a few times per week. In another couple of months, I'm doing 8 sessions with a trainer at the Personal Training Institute in Smithtown (next to Starbucks and Daffy's) on Main Street. It's under $250 (I want to say $230 maybe - it was a gift, so I don't remember). They seem to be the cheapest around for that kind of a package. Just remember that no matter what we do, we need to be healthy and every bride is beautiful on her wedding day!
