Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
i plan on giving each set of parents a gift- not each parent individually. I'm not sure yet what it's going to be... but I am giving it to them at the Rehersal dinner with i give out the bridal party gifts.

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
We are giving gifts to our parents at the RD. Here is what we are giving them (see the 1st pic). Also, I created a poem and attached it to a sheet of vellum with our baby picture scanned on the vellum (see second pic) and I am getting my father this.
Here is what the poems say:
For my parents: Mom & Dad – Coming soon is the day, I've dreamed of all my life. I will then be marrying, becoming Michael’s wife. I wanted to tell you how special, you two are to me. You have made me what I am, and am ready to be. That night I will sleep, with dreams of bygone days, My loving, carefree childhood, and of my childish ways. Then I will awake, with dreams of things to come, What my life will be, and who I will become. With the morning I will have, emotions flowing free, I just wanted you to know, I'll need you there with me Your strength and love will guide me, as I become the bride, As I start this precious journey, I need you by my side. As I stand with Dad, at the beginning of the aisle Please look at me dear Mom; I'll need to see your smile. Your smile and Dad's arm will help to steady me, As I take this blessed step, for God and all to see. I'll always be your daughter, and your love I'll always need, Though we are starting a new chapter, planting a new seed. Michael is my love, my life, my everything to me, And he will be beside me, as we tackle what will be. So right before my wedding day, I say these words to you, Hoping that you realize, you're in everything I do. On my wedding day I will pledge to Michael, my very heart and soul, You have helped to mold me, and he will make me whole. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Love Your Daughter, Lisa
For my parents: Mom & Dad – I know I don’t say it often, and you can’t read my mind, But as we get closer to my wedding day, I thought I should be inclined, To tell you how special you are, and you mean the world to me A son couldn’t have better parents, or a better family tree. I have always felt very loved, even when I was in trouble. I hope to pass on that love, to children of my own, The example you set will be hard to follow, but I will not be alone. I was once a little boy, that you raised with love and care I have now become a man, and my life I am ready to share. Lisa is my life, my best friend, my soulmate and confidante, There is no other person, that I could ever want. Soon we’ll be joined in marriage, for now and evermore, I’ll be armed with the qualities you taught me, and, am now, thanking you for. Please know that I might not say it, but my heart is full of love, For the things I have, but mostly for, yourselves that you gave all of. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Love Your Son, Michael

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
I am buying something for my mom and giving it to her before the wedding. She has given us a little towards the reception and is currently working on little projects for me. As far as his parents, no they are not getting anything. They are not contributing towards the wedding nor are they giving us the HM as promised (dont ask).

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
Both my mom & FI mom will be getting a crystal wedding frame for our pictures once they're done and also a DVD copy of our video (also once it is done).
No gifts to the fathers (his parents divorced and FMIL is the one throwing the rehearsal dinner so he won't be there) and my father passed away 2 years ago. I will have my brother walk me down (in place of father) and I will be getting him cigars as a gift.

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
I am planning on giving my parents a weekend away. I figure after everything that I have put them through with the wedding, it would be nice to get them a hotel room in the city for the weekend, send them to a show and give them a gift certificate for a really nice dinner. I thought that I would plan it now and then tell them about it at the rehearsal dinner. I know that this is really bad, but FH's parents haven't really helped me much, so I am not really sure what to get them, if anything. I don't think that they would expect anything though. They are not really "into the wedding" if you know what I mean.

We decided on getting both sets of parents airline vouchers. That way, they also can get a rest after the wedding.

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
I think I am going to get a double frame (similar to the pic nylisa showed) and have our parents wedding pic on one side and ours on the other. Well, I will write some kind of poem so that they know what it is for, and them when we get our pics back, they can put it in there. I am still trying to think of other ideas. As some other girls said, we really don't have the money now to do something that big.
nylisa.......those poems were beautiful! Have you done something for your BM's as well?

Re: Gifts for mom, dad, fmil, ffil?
We had 3 sets of parents since mine are remarried. We gave them mahogany wood photo albums that were engraved "Albert Family Memories" , engraved with their family names. We got it at things remembered. For our two readers in the ceremony we got them the smaller version of that photo album also engraved.
