Going to Hawaii. Staying at Oahu. Cause all though it is "city like" Its still beautiful and on an Island. Commercialized and has tall buildings. Maui Cause its Beautiful and Romantic. Kaui cause its even more romantic then Maui and as my mom puts it "its what you think Hawaii should look like" Staying at all hyatts Cause I have heard such great things about them They have amazing pools and give great packages! Good Luck! We are doing 3 nights on each. We are also Stopping in San Fran for 2 night going and Vegas 2 night coming back Cause all though Its alot of checking in Its just to long of a flight for me!

Im BUMPing b.c I am having such a hard time figuring out where to start the honeymoon, where to end up, where to stay, which airline to fly, how much is too much, etc. I feel like when you have so many people on the boards that have been to Hawaii, I want to take their advice and plan the PERFECT honeymoon.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon ---- What made everyone choose on location over another?
Amy, I would DEFINITELY reccommend going through a travel agent. We went through one in Manhattan and he got us the best prices and gave lots of recommendations. FH shopped around like crazy on his own and we found that we got the better hotel and car deals through a travel agent. We gave him a budget, and he worked with it. He arranged for our inter-island flights etc. We are staying on Maui for 5 nights, Kauai for 4 and Kona (Big island) for 3. We opted to only do a day trip to Oahu to see Peal Harbor and the Dole plantation. We wanted to stay on Kona instead to see the active volcano.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon ---- What made everyone choose on location over another?
Im definitely going through a travel agent. The thought taking on another huge task that involves all that planning, phone calls, finding the best deal, makes me ill. I have enough on my plate right now. But I wanted to go to the travel agent, and say what islands, and for how long. I guess Im in the research stage.

We chose Hawaii because we couldn't afford going to Tahiti or the Fiji Islands. We didn't have the time off to take and didn't see the point in spending that much $$$$$ for a HM. Hawaii was our 2nd choice in terms of weather. We've both been to the caribbean and mexico plenty of times and felt that it was close enough to go for a long weekend versus a HM.

I agree and have said that to FH so many times. We could go to the carribbean when we have kids, or a cruise. Hawaii is expensive enough with just two people. I think the thought of the long flight is urking him.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon ---- What made everyone choose on location over another?
FH has been to Hawaii twice before so he knew that he definitely wanted to take me to Kaui and to Kona (big Island). We are using my frequent flier miles for both tickets so whichever flight we could get determined our starting point. We only wanted to do three islands - didn't want to shlepp around the whole time. - So we are spending 5 days in Kaui, 3 in Molokai, and 5 in Kona. Molokai is a small island, very undisturbed, not commercialized, very Tahiti. We will be staying in a little beach house when we are there and i am soo excited for it!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon ---- What made everyone choose on location over another?
We wanted a totally relaxing experience, so we stayed on Maui and Kauai. We didn't bother with the big island or Oahu. Too built up. We stayed at the Outrigger Resort and Sheraton.
Good luck, Donna 10/5/03

HI there, not to burst your bubble, but it is way to early to start to book your honeymoon. The airlines won't have the flights until 11 months out. ( I work in the industry) What you should do is contact the Hawaiian Visitors bureau and request information on each destination and see what hotels you might like.
Good luck
