Kind of upset! Need some advice and ideas!(Not earth shattering but important to me anyway!)
My hair trial didn't go well yesterday. I wasn't happy with how she did it. I have naturally curly hair, (as you can see in my profile) and she blew it out and then used a curling iron. She tried to do it half up, half down but there is no way it would have stayed in all day and night. It looked messy. Here are my options, go back with another trial with same person, just different style OR try another salon. BUT I already booked her and the makeup artist to come to my house to do make up and hair for wedding day. IF I decide not to use the hair person I can't use the make up one nor can I ever walk into that salon ever again. Not that that's a big deal since I don't normally get my hair cuts there anyway but...
Ok so here is where I need help, Can anyone give recommendations for places or freelance people in BROOKLYN?
ETA:Once you see my hair do you have any ideas as to how it should be worn?

If she's going to charge you for another trial then I say go somewhere else. Unless it's really cheap. If you don't normally go there then I would keep the make-up lady and maybe tell the hair lady you found someone cheaper or a friend is going to do it.

sorry your hair trial didn't go well. I live in Brooklyn and I use Anne Marie at Pierre Luca in Dyker Heights - but they are all absolutely great. Joe is the owner. 718-836-9539 (they are only open Thurs-Sat) I'm not sure if Anne Marie does any freelancing but it can't hurt to check them out. Good luck!

I have naturally curly hair as well. I too wanted my hair straightened and re-curled. All the trials with a curling iron went awful. Finally, one woman used rollers and it came out so much better! Try that!

I have long naturally curly hair- Your best bet it to always go w/ your NATURAL curls - don't let them blow your hair out straight and then use a curling iron- especially if you want to wear your hair down at all ! You're going to run the risk of complete frizz ! - Also, I don't knw where you're coming from but Christina @ Salon 1041 in Massapequa Park is awesome ! - She has curly hair herself and knows exactly how to handle it . - She's been cutting my hair for years and I wouldn't let another person near me - Especially on my wedding day !

i would give her another chance before you have to go and look for a new hairdresser and make up artist. if see doesnt do a good job the 2nd time then i would look. then you would have given her a second chance and i think you could still show your face in the salon. my sister has naturally curly hair and wheres her hair up all the time and it looks great she leaves a few strands hanging down and its beautiful

Sorry, I don't know anyone in Brooklyn. But I have a great person who does hair in Long Island- Cedarhurst. FM me for info if you are interested.
OOhh-- i just thought of someone. He did my friend Stacy's hair. His name is David and he works at Irene Dinov in Brooklyn Heights. He is Israeli and I know he lives in Brooklyn also. FM me if you want t he number. He is her usual hairdresser (she has straight hair), but she looked beautiful at her wedding.

I'm sorry your hair trial didn't go so well. I also have long thick curly hair. I know what works on my hair and the best thing is ROLLERS!! It takes much longer but it's so worth it. Have them use a little mousse or gel on your wet hair before putting on the rollers and going under the dryer -- you'll have beautiful curls that will last all night! And they look SO much better than curling iron curls.
