Best Man is a Woman!
OK ladies, here's a tough one! My fiance has chosen his sister to be the best man..a decision I have no problem with. My problem is what do I have her wear? Should I have her wear the 1)same dress/same color as my maid of honor 2)same dress/lighter shade 3)same dress/different color or 4) a completely different dress? What do you think? Hi Brides! I am a fairly new resident on the Island and it is time for me to start looking for a gown for my wedding next year...any suggestions on Bridal shops in the Eastern Nassau/Western Suffolk region? Thanks for your help and happy planning! Many people don't know about the Carriage House...only the Cottege (which is beautiful, but big and bigger minimums).

I'd find some way to have her be different from your MOH, but not so different that she doesn't blend with the group. Maybe a beautiful corsage, not a bouquet, for flowers, and I like the idea of a different shade or color of the dress.

My sister's husband chose to do the same thing and his sister wore black, to match the other "groomsmen" - just another possibility! Best Man is a Woman!..My wedding too
Lia..my future sister-in-law is also the best "man" at my wedding. At first I wanted her to wear the same dress as the brides maids so that it would look uniform. However, she thought she shouldnt because she is not a bridesmaid. She is standing up for her brother and wanted to wear black like the guys are wearing. I flatly refused to let her wear a tux. She didn't like the dresses my girls are wearing which was a battle in itself. I did however settle on a dress that was very much like the bridesmaid dresses in black. It wasnt easy to get to that poont. But its not that bad really. The only diffeence between her dress and the others is the sleeve. The girls are wearing a tank style sleeve and she is wearing a real small cap sleeve. She didn't want her arms to show. Go figure!! But we settled on a dress that amde us both happy. Hope this helps Anna; Can you send me a phone number and/or e-mail address for the realtor you worked with? Thanks in advance...

One of my sisters was best person for our brother. She wore a black dress that was entirely different from the bridesmaids. She originally was going to wear a tux, which everyone thought was a great idea, but then found out she was pregnant so the tux idea went out the window(she was 8 months pregnant on his wedding day). I don't think it is necessary to have the woman acting as best person dress the same as the bridesmaids because that is not what she is doing. Pick something that will compliment the tux that the groom is wearing since that is who she will be standing next to. He was a little bit more expensive then others, but I have only heard great things about him. I feel confident about my choice. Thanks in advance...

Best Man is a Woman!
i have the same situation...originally she really wanted to wear a tux like the rest of the guys, but after calling many tux places, the all said that they didn't carry women's tuxes for social occasions. luckily she bought a black silk suit (jacket and long skirt) and said she is going to go with the guys and try to get a matching shirt (in a boys size if its just too big) and vest. i basically told her i wanted her to be comfy and she said that she didn't want to look to manish or detract from the rest of the guys... so i think what she chose is a good choice. if you need more advise on this, let me know. good luck and happy planning! -leighann I think someone else on the board has that date, but I haven't seen them post in this thread. Do we share this date with anyone here?
