For those who are married and have changed their names..
For all those who are married and have changed their names. My license expires on my b day in March this year and I have yet to change my name on anything in my life.
I wanted to know if I can go to dmv first, to not only renew my license but change my name at the same time without going to ss first? If I do go to ss first, can I go change my name at dmv and renew on the same day? I have heard mixed things on this.
Im looking at a long day at dmv and really dont want to start out by going to ss that day as well. What should I bring to dmv? My marriage license? To me, this is all so confusing!

I went to SS first, took 5 min.
Then to DMV, my license was to expire also the next month so I renewed & changed my name at the same time. 
Yes you can go to both on the same day. Just bring your original ML and SS gives you a letter stating you applied for name change.

I did DMV first cause it was closer.
Hint: If you change your license.. and own a car, you have to change your registration while you're there and make sure your insurance company has the right name as well, plus if you OWN your car outright, then you may want to change the title.
SS office was a BREEZE!!!

i changed my name with the dmv and it took like 5 mins but i havent gotten a chance to go to the s.s. office.

I haven't changed it at DMV yet but I don't have a Drivers License just an ID. SS I had my DH bring all the paperwork there on his way home from work one morning 2 weeks ago & I just got my new card the other day. He said it only took 5-10 minutes to file it all.
