Re: Baby's first birthday
How big is he, do you know? I would say 12 or 18 months. If it's a summer outfit, get bigger so he'll fit into it by the summer.

Re: Baby's first birthday

Go bigger T,
Mia is wearing 12 months now, depending on what store the clothes are from.

Re: Baby's first birthday
Just make sure they are season appropriate. People have bought me things for the sumer that I already know are going to be way too small.
Call his mother and ask his size, that way you can't go wrong

Re: Baby's first birthday
Paul is 20 mos. right NOW, and he's wearing 24 mos. clothing - but some of it is still a bit BIG. Buying 18-24 mos. for a 12 mo. old is a bit big, IMO. Of course, some kids are much bigger than average and they will of course take a bigger size. But, Paul has always been average to above average on the height/weight charts and he was wearing 12 mos. clothing when he was 12 mos.
T - my advice is to call the Mom and ASK what size the kid is wearing, OR make sure to include a GIFT RECEIPT with your gift. That way if it's the wrong size, the Mom can exchange it for something that will fit, or be more season appropriate.

Re: Baby's first birthday
I agree with the ladies, you need to check with the mom!! I had so many well intentioned gifts of clothing for DS over the years and most if it he cannot wear b/c it's alwys the wrong size for the season!! Which it would'nt be if people asked.

Same thing with Lukie - actually he's always been above average in height but some stuff, he still wears 12 mth, in others 18 months. It depends on the brand sometimes too.
I like the idea of giving the item with the gift receipt.

Re: Baby's first birthday
Checking with the Mom is a good idea because Ryan is only 8 months but he is wearing some stuff in 18 month size already...

Checking w/Mommy is a *huge* pet peeve of mine - especially when it comes to my MIL! I cannot tell you HOW MANY TIMES she has saddled us with outfits for Paul that are useless b/c she refuses (God knows why ) to call me and ASK what size he's wearing AND she buys at stores that are only in Florida and not NY! Is she kidding me, or what????
Whew...sorry, just had to vent.....

Re: Baby's first birthday
Lyndsey is 9 months and is wearing some 18 months (they are getting small), 24 months and even some (gulp) 2T. She's in the 100th percentile for height and weight though. 12 months has not fit her in a long time!

Re: Baby's first birthday
Claud, LMAO!!!!
I've gotten two really cute Christmas dresses for Gianna, but the size is 3-6 months. Hello, next year she won't be fitting into them!!! And the people didn't give me a receipt and I can't bring them back because all the holiday stuff was gone!! One of the dresses was a Baby's First Christmas one and it was from my sister's in-laws and I saw them AFTER CHRISTMAS!!!! Don't get me wrong, I really appreciated the thought, but I hate the fact that the wasted their money on something she'll never wear.

Re: Baby's first birthday
Same with alex.. hes been in the upper 90's for the percentiles for height and weight.. hes 10 1/2 months and in 18 mos. He has been in 18 mos since about 7 months/ 7 and a half...
It would be safe and best to buy a 18 mos. and give a gift reciept. There are some kids who are rright on their sizes.. but most babies are running bigger!!! Good luck!!

Re: Baby's first birthday
T- Sean's 1st isn't until July!! Shopping early, eh?!
Anyhoooo, my chunkster will definitely be in 24 months, if not 2T by then, where the average 1 year old is probably only in 12 or 18 months.

Re: Baby's first birthday
Usually you double the age. I'd say 24 months for spring/summer stuff, 18 months for now
