VENT: The stuff I put up with!
I work at a private vocational school (for my full time job, I also have the job in radio to try to actually have a career).
This morning a woman called me asking for information on our tuition. I am not allowed to discuss financials over the phone. I don't know why, I'm just not. I've been told that I can't discuss it over the phone for legal reasons - I don't know, it's New York State Educational stuff - they make you jump through all sorts of hoops.
I offered to send her an informational packet with the answer to her question. She pressed on, why can't you tell me (meanwhile her kid is freakin' screaming in the background, making it tough for me to hear her)? So I explain that for legal reasons I'm not allowed. She says "Oh really? That's a Law?" all snotty. And when I say, Look, all I've been told is not to discuss it over the phone, now I can send you the packet, and she tells me not to get snippy with her. So then she asks me when classes start, so I tell her March 8th, and she gets all haughty and says thank you and hangs up on me.
You know, I'm sorry you're stuck at home with a screaming kid, but you don't have to be rude with me.
OH, and the VICE PRESIDENT of the school just called me, because this woman called the main campus to complain that she had asked for a catalog and hadn't recieved it (I checked the Database, the request was received on MONDAY), and thought we were "hiding something" from her. Now I'm off the hook, no one's mad at me, but I'm pretty pissed.
Man I need a new job..........

Don't sweat the small stuff...and trust me...crazy people like her are small!!!!
I agree...think about what it's paying for and it will get your through the day.

Good point.
But man do I hate people on the phone more and more and more and more everyday.
It is so difficult to stay positive - I just am not myself these days, and then people call me to ask questions and then continue talking while I'm trying to answer them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
