For the people that did goto work, how are the roads?

I didnt go...and I told my boss who works in another state. He said if the office is officially open and you didnt go, then you have to use one of your personal days...ARGH. I hate this weather

Re: Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

I got to work about 15 minutes late. The LIRR was only about 10-15 minutes late. My big complaint was that it was FREEZING on my train. They said the heat was on, but I didn't take off my hat, scarf or gloves. There was snow that had piled up in the doorway when they opened the doors and an hour later it hadn't melted (train is express, so it was an hour from the time they closed the doors until we got into Penn)

Re: Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

The roads were bad for me. There two spin outs on the SSP on my way in. It got progressively worse the longer I was on the road as the snow began to freeze. But you can't tell where the ice is. Once I got off the parkway, I started sliding and cars were sliding around me in the same spots. I slipped about 3 or 4 times after I got off the parkway. The parkway was creeping along at a brisk 5 mph for most of the ride.

Sunrise Highway form Sayville to Babylon was fine, I drive a mustang and am usually all over the road, and I didn't have one problem, just had to drive slower then normal. It took me about 45 minutes to drive to work, and it is usually 30 with traffic.

Re: Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

I was at work with little problem at my usual time,,,ok I got here at 6:02am,,,not 5:50am.

My FH is home, but he works for a boat marina, not much they could probally do anyway, and plus he was stuck at work until about 11pm with a problem there.

My train was freezing too! I got to work about about 40 minutes late. There was a disabled train in front of us...that always happens.

Re: Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

I don't know. Being not from New York originally I keep waiting for that 'big blizzard' winter. So far all, most of the stuff I've seen, I've been able to deal with without much trouble.

I work in the City, our office was most definately NOT closed nor did I expect it to be. The LIRR was around 10-15 late but I assumed the night before and took an earlier train as a precaution. We also got up a bit earlier to make sure my car had more time to warm up and we had time to shovel if necessary. I wasn't late into the office. I wasn't as early as I should have been for the train I took, but I was in about 10 to 9am. Usually with that train I am in the office about 8:20am.

Jim is forced to drive my car (my little sport coupe NOT meant for winter) and that bothers me a bit. So I make him leave early and take his time.

Overall I think this was nothing. What maybe 2 inches of snow? Light fluffy but hard snow, not icy sleet with black ice patches and slush.

Maybe it's just me. I see nothing wrong with this. It's GORGEOUS out there right now.. so blue the sky.

You're right....now that I'm actually at work I feel like a big baby for whining and procrastinating for so long.....

My local library (Patchogue Medford) where I work opened at 1, so I got to go in late.
