Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

Is there anyone out there who's not a teacher who's getting the day off? I called my boss and she told me to take my time coming in (believe me, she didn't have to tell me twice - I haven't even gotten in the shower yet and usually by this time I'm already out the door!) ..... but the fact is I still have to go! The roads look so bad, and I already know that the higher ups at my job (who have the authority to say No Work Today) will probably not show up! Sorry, I know it's just the way things go, but I needed to vent!

I am also not sure what to do. It is just me my boss and a secretary. I am sure the secretary won't come in, since her kids are home, and my boss works in the same town that we work in, and he has 4 wheel drive, I drive a mustang!

My boss paged me with "STAY HOME" at 6:24 this morning ... I was still in bed and would normally have already been out of the shower.

I still have to work though, just from home.

My manager called me at home this morning to tell me that we were open today but to stay home - she didn't want me to drive. Just another perk of being preggo

Sorry to hear that! And I read your post about losing weight since Sunday... that's horrible! It makes me so angry that there are doctors out there who overprescribe antibiotics. And especially since your doctor knew you were sensitive to them.... all I can say is I hope you feel better!

I called in, my boss is out of the country anyway. I work downtown so it would be way too much of a hassle to get in.

I am so mad because I should have brought work home with me, but I didn't think of it when I left yesterday.

I work in the city too, and it's a pain for me to get in when it's crap weather like this, but I gotta look at it this way: my boss who lives much further away than me is coming in so I know I just have to suck it up!

Thanks for your concern. I am calling my Dr. when she opens at 9:00, if she isn't closed from the snow.

Re: Non-Teachers - Do you have work?

My parents called me while I was still sleeping this morning (Dad at 6:30 and Mom at 6:40) to tell me that I shouldn't go in and to be extremely careful if I had to go in. Really, I was thinking that today would be a good day to tempt fate and drive like a friggen looney in this weather, yanno, since I'm 12 years old.

I called my office a little after 7 and we're having a delayed opening (10:30). Luckily, the case I was supposed to go to court for is being adjourned, so I don't have to get there earlier for that. I normally work from 8:30, so I get 2 free hours today! But unfortunately, I have to go in.

My job is Open, but I think only the men are braving the snow. With my 50 mile drive from Bronx to Ronkonkoma I got the OK from my boss to stay home

Annoying maybe, but that's so cute! I tell DH to be careful and he just has a 5 min WALK to work

I am going in - but I'm going in late. It's just me and my boss anyway and she's in the city today. And I need to feed her cats.

We would need about 18 inches of snow for the owners to understand why no one came in to the office.

Nope it is my day off. Thank G-d, but my boss did call me last night- I think it was an excuse to say hello, to tell me if I had to work I would have the day off. I have been working for him for 13 years- he is like family to me- he knows if there is a bad storm like this I am not leaving the house.

My office is like Christine's...they might let us go early if the snow starts piling up over 5 ft.

I live about 10 miles from my job so I don't get much leeway.

Hopefully all of my customers' offices are closed!!

I agree - the trains were a little late but nothing crazy and the streets are reasonably cleared.

I think I was broken in early after the snow last month that this really doesn't seem so bad

I walked through Manhattan. It is really not that bad..just freezing and windy. The stock market will never have a snow day!
