Aaaahhhh, U.S. Open is the weekend of my wedding, so far all of the hotels are booked!!!!!UPDATE-blocked rooms in Westbury!!!!

Help ladies. FH and I tried to block hotel rooms for the weekend of our wedding (June 20th) and everything in the area is booked. It is the weekend of the US Open golf tournament and even though it is out in Southampton, hotels are all booked all the way to Farmingdale. FH is waiting to hear back from a woman at the new Wingate on Crooked Hill in Brentwood (near Costco and Target). They show rooms available online. I don't know what else to do.

Yeah I remember when I was looking the hotels told me even though the Open was far out the hotels were required to hold rooms by the Tourism association. Maybe you can call the hotels and see if any will have blocks with rooms that will be released. What is I mean I booked the Wingate and they release everything but 10 rooms in March and then they hold those 10 till May. So maybe people at area hotels blocked alot and they will get released because other hotels have that same sort of rule. I know as of now I have 3 rooms that will be released in March so maybe other people will too? That is the only thing I can think of without looking in Queens??

Maybe you can look into renting a house/houses and group people together. It may even work out cheaper than hotel rooms and guests will have the added bonus of a kitchen. Just a suggestion.

The new Wingate in Brentwood shows that it has some rooms available, so I guess we will need to see how many they actually have when they call back.

In the mean time, thanks Laura, maybe they do have a hold for a certain time, and then they get released.


I just need them to stay in a hotel for the weekend, the nights before and after the wedding. Just so FH and I and our families have private time, then the guests will be staying with our parents or heading home.

Have you tried any of the extended stay hotels? Marriott has one in Plainview, & Extended Stay America has one in Hicksville & I think in Huntington, near the Hilton. Bonus of having kitchens too.

I think I am going to start looking at hotels closer to Westbury Manor as opposed to my church in Brentwood. Maybe I will have luck this way.


I can't believe this stupid tournament is blocking all of these rooms. Considering the weekend is also big for graduations and weddings, I wonder who planned it this way...

I am hoping that there is something that can be done. FH and I haven't even booked a room for us for that night. I don't know what to do.

I am trying to take this lightly because I haven't heard back from Wingate- Brentwood yet. Then I will call the Holiday Inn in Westbury and then I will start to panic.

Hey, maybe people will prefer staying closer to where the reception is anyway!! :)

I think the closer to the city you go, you should be better off..
I have no advice for you (i think the hotel suggestions already posted are good as well)..

I just went online to Orbitz and looked at all of the hotels on Long Island and it looks like the Wingate in Brentwood has a bunch of rooms available (probably because they just opened and when the tourism dept. asked the other hotels to block rooms, which babybride mentioned, this hotel wasn't open yet)

Please keep your fingers crossed that we can get rooms blocked. If not, I may ask if we can rent rooms in all of your houses

Which do you think is better? A hotel close to where the family lives and where the church is or one close to the reception?

I Would pic the hotel closest to the hall. Only b/c of people drinkin and stuff like that. From what I hear the Wingate in garden city (on Stewart Ave) Transports the guests back and forth to the hall That might be a good option. Another option is they just built a new hotel right off of old country road almost behind Cafe Baci. I think it is a Marriot something or other but I am not even sure if they are opened yet so they can't be booked yet.

I just thought of another one - close to WM that may have rooms. The Hilton Garden Inn by Bed, Bath and Beyond just opened recently. I think I checked their rates recently for that weekend and rooms came up. I think they were a little more for that weekend, but they still had rooms??? Also, I would prefer to be closer to the hall. I just did the whole weekend from the 18th to the 20th and it is still coming up with rooms. I thought when I looked they were $169, now it says $189 but maybe they have group discounts?

I just checked out the Hilton Garden Inn and it looks nice. I will have to ask FH if he thinks it is out of price range for his family (they are spending a lot on airfare from Poland and already complaining)

I would opt for near the reception. It will be easier for the guests late at night, and its far away from Southampton. Soem peopel might need a hotel ner the church though, like if bridal party memebrs are coming from OOT.

Try REdroof INn in garden City by the mall, ...I think HOliday INn Express opened in Westbury, there is another HOliday inn I believe it is in Westbury. Howard Johnson on Jericho Turnpike near the Westbury Manor. Executive Inn in Woodbury. Goood Luck

i would break out the bed and breakfast book and start calling - and if all else fails talk to a realtor they can sometimes refer you to short term rentals - definately keep them closer to the hall - this way when everyone is worn out and tired it is easy for them to get back
persistance also pays off if they didnt call back call them this way they know you are serious about wanting this space

The same thing happened last year to a guy I work with. I think he ended up getting a block at the Hilton or Radisson(whatever it is now) in Huntington. I would opt for the Westbury Manor idea though, there are a whole bunch of hotels in Westbury by the Source Mall.
