Past Labor Day weekend brides
I'm kind of freaking out cause I'm thinking there will be crazy crazy traffic on Saturday night. My ceremony/reception starts at 6:30. Is it going to be insane from NYC/Brooklyn going out east on the island?

Re: Past Labor Day weekend brides
We got married this past Labor Day weekend (Sat 8/30). My church was in Floral Park (Nassau) and our reception was in East Northport (WAY out in Suffolk). I was so worried about traffic that I built in 3 1/2 hours between our ceremony and our cocktail hour for us to get to the location, and take pics.
I worried about this forever, and it turned out to be fine, we hit no traffic and got there in no time. I think by that time in the afternoon (4p when we left the church) most people are where they want to go, or leaving the beach, coming west.

Re: Past Labor Day weekend brides
We were married on Firday night of Labor Day weekend. I thought the traffic would be even worse than on Saturday so I was very nervous. Our church was at 5 (East Rockaway) and cocktail hour was at 8 (John Anthonys in Babylon). I wanted to get to the hall by 7:30 so we kind of rushed. There was not ONE OUNCE of traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spent a lot of time worrying about this for nothing. I'm not sure how It would be from NYC/Brooklyn but I woulnd't worry too much

Re: Past Labor Day weekend brides
You ladies are godsends. I started freaking out last night that people wouldn't make the wedding. All reason left me. I originally figured that by 4:00pm everybody will not be on the road, but decided to disregard that completely. Freaking out is just mure fun. The drive on the LIE is never fun, but how many times do I get married. Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Re: Past Labor Day weekend brides
I think it should be fine - like everyone else said most people are where they are going to be. Also, anyone slightly familiar with long island will know to leave extra time for travel on any day even more so for special occasions
Our wedding was at the end of Sept - after the summer crowds, etc. The day before the wedding we found out there was a parade in one part of Stewart Manor and a street fair in the other. You could miss Stewart Manor if you blink and they had all this going on in one day! And it was fine - we started 5 minutes late to allow for everyone to arrive.
Try not to worry about it
